I make time for this show when I watch no other TV, I enjoy it very much, but I have a minor complaint in their computer hacking is magic nonsense technobabble (it's not that hard sirs and madams, get a consultant, I VOLUNTEER AS TRIBUTE!), and they very poorly directed the guest star for skye (besides looking creepily like eric bana). There should have been an emotional beat in the bedroom scene where they go from standoffish to warm and caring, and I never saw it and instead felt "now is when it says to kiss". He is very standoffish and instead of being charming he is just always a jerk so the arc of his dissapointing skye is less effective. I have a feeling we may see him again as well since they dump him off. They also could have shown him repentant but there is no writing in that character to show he wavered in his sellout of his ideals. He talks about doing it for her, but there is no emotional connection. Very frustrating on what could have been a very involving episode for him and skye, instead they waste the chance to show the arc of her actually not caring about the cause either, and having her parents be her driving force have any emotional punch other than, oh I got found out.
I'm no writer so I don't have a leg to stand on, but it was very frustrating to miss that potential depth in a show where that needs to get going. 5 eps isn't fair to judge yet, so I'm very excited for what is to come. The A plot guest star was amazing, a lot of depth in the betrayal from Raina.

I admire how smart they are with budget with their cold opens, always an exotic location but no stars so they can fly out the guest stars and use a local crew or smaller crew. Really smart and adds a lot to the exotic look/world traveler nature of the show.

Ways to blow the next episode: make it easy to rebuild the trust she broke(fitz should slow burn on this one). Not doing something different (a la firefly's "out of gas" or dollhouse season finale type different) soon.
So excited for more.

(pps, CA: winter soldier looks like a fight for the identity of the good guy vs shield also. Interesting....)

Say, just so everyone...and the headline writer...knows. This is the FIFTH episode of AoS, not the fourth.

I've only seen the first four, since the 5th isn't out there yet, so I got a good dose of spoilers and confusion reading this one before I realised what was going on.

I know it's just a tv show but the way they did the ending bugged me. Flash drives don't work that way! Just having all the "files" pop up on the screen at once and THEN having Skye explain what they meant really robbed the visuals of any weight they would've had. It would have been much more dramatic if she had just said "all I ever found was this..." and then put the redacted file on the screen. But no, since Whedon apparently thinks his audience is to dumb to understand the word "implied", he needs to have super agent Coulsen explain something we already clearly saw for ourselves.

And am I the only one who found it really obnoxious how that woman was always wearing the same dress? And the abduction? What if he had decided to fry her right there? Took them forever to knock him unconscious.

I was more bothered by the "Zombie Pigmen" joke, tbh.
Also, are they living in the Watch_Dogs universe, how did that other hacker dude made all the stoplights go green?

Oh well, at least they haven't gone into NCIS territory.

Except, you know...it's not. The whole intro of the show, with the abduction, she's wearing a white dress with black flowers. At the lab, she wears a black dress with white flowers, and at the end, in the prison, she wears a black dress with red flowers. Don't get bent over things that aren't really there.

Coulson is stupid for firing more than once at a target only protected by a shield made of flames that may be breached or go down at any second? Seriously?
I liked this episode, and more or less agree with your other points, but Coulson was stupid for firing ALL his rounds in quick succession. Firing a second time after the first time didn't work: fine. But after that, he at least could have waited a little bit.

Stupidity is repeating the same thing and expecting different results.

Think you meant to quote someone else haha. That's not from my post.

Indeed, it is from mine. And I think Coulson kept firing because he didn't expect they would get another shot. Scorch may not fall for the same distraction again so he figured he would take his chances. A shield made of fire isn't particularly reliable after all so any bullet might have gone through if there was a weak point.

Is it me or is Melinda May on a vendetta to end stupid plotlines? "Ohhhh, what should we do about Coulson's protege- May's already grabbed her?" "Skye and her boyfriend are off canoodling somewhere what should we do abou- Oh, May busted them" Seriouly, any plots I thought would drag on and consume an episode just get wipe out by Miss May kicking ass.

Oh, c?mon, Bob. Not that Coulson?s ?Oh, no. They gave him a name.? or ?So, we?re good, right?? were bad, but this episode?s best line was obviously Skye?s ?Now, you?re making fun of MY VAN?!?.
I love the show?s car fixation. [?Don?t touch Lola!?]

The whole 'must have a reference to the fact that Coulson is dead in every episode' thing is getting pretty stupid now. I hope they don't pull a JJ Abrams and withhold the LMD/Clone revelation till season 2 or even beyond.

This centipede thing makes it seem even more like they are desperately trying to avoid any reference whatsoever to X-men/mutants and still have a reason for there to be people with abilities. I know is cos everything X-men related it's owned by Fox but it still seems kinda dumb that even shield don't know about mutants.

It's most likely, totally never going to happen. But I'm really hoping this "Clairvoyant" turns out to be The Profile. Is that to much to ask? Probably definitely.

I'm not that familiar with the smaller Marvel characters - could you please explain who the Profile is?

The Profile is a Moon Knight villain who has the ability to in esscense read the body language and mannerisms of anyone he looks at (including himself) and in doing so learn everything there is to know about them.

...That sounds more like Taskmaster to me, honestly. Though I would LOVE to see him show up - be awesome to see how Coulson and company can deal with someone like him
