Okay so with Mass Effect 3 now revealed (suprise suprise) I thought we'd all be able to tak about the effects that happen in Mass Effect 2 (like if you kill or save the council) so lets get started, what happens in Mass Effect 2 if you save the council?

In Mass Effect 3, you get to walk in with a smug smile on your face, punch the Turian in the gut and say, "I told you so." Then all the races you have allied behind you (Geth included, with Legion's help) go and stomp the Reapers into dust. After that, the Reapers switch back to the Star Wars universe to fulfill that Sith prophecy that is in Fate of the Jedi series. Honestly, look it up. Star Wars is doing the same thing. Some ancient race appears every 50,000 years or so and wipes out all life. Copycats...

You get your spectre status reinstated. It makes the interrogation scene in Thanes loyalty mission very easy and very funny.
