First and foremost, this is NOT me bashing on Mass Effect, either the franchise as a whole,or any installment within.

Now,I recently uninstalled ME2 from my computer, because I needed to free up a little space on the drive. My uninstall proccess was to go into the control panel, and use the uninstal programs utility to do so. I noticed thet Mass Effect 2 was still on the list. I uninstall again. Still there.

I go to the directory in My Computer, and delete the entire Mass Effect 2 folder, and then, for good measure, the entire Mass Effect 2 folder in My Documents. I reinstalled Mass Effect 2,and,what's this? My Mass Effect 1 saves folder vanished. I still have all of the other Mass Effect 1 directories. I shrugged, went "Meh." and made a new Shep.

When I started the game,I was treated to Ashley giving me the sitrep. Which is unfortunate, because I always left her to get nuked (she wasn't the bomb tech, therefore, not mission critical). I can deal with that. I may not like her,but she's bearable.

Then, when I got around to asking Martin Sheen about the wherabouts of my crew...Urdnot Wrex was conspicuously absent from the list. I always knew that you have to kill him on Virmire if you aren't a silver tounged devil,or didn't get his father's armour,or sequence broke the HELL out of the game. However,I didn't know his default state was KIA. I always liked Wrex;he was the thinking Krogan.

This made me mad. So,I popped in my ME1 disk. I have a level 50 Engie BroShep with million dollar guns, and Colossus Mk IX armour. What am I treated to upon insertign the disk?

"Do you want to install Mass Effect?"

I'm pretty sure you now understand where I'm coming from. I have bought the "Arrival" and "Lair of the Shadow Broker" DLC for ME2 last night, and I want to play them.

Now,my question, how,if it's possible, can I CONSTRUCT a save file? I don't want to spend two weeks trying to recover my losses. If not...Looks like I'm going back to Eden Prime.

EA's DLC and import features are god's punishment for an evil world. I have no idea what was in their heads when they made it so user hostile.

If you're willing to drop a few more Bioware points, that goofy Genesis DLC will allow you to sort out the Wrex and Virmire Survivor issues. My girlfriend had to go that route recently after running into the exact same issue as you.

You can search by Renegade/Paragon/Mixed, and then further by who they romanced. Pretty much every saved file also includes details like level, cash, who was killed/spared, any choices they made with characters (such as pushing Garrus to Renegade or Paragon/giving Tali her Pilgrimage data, etc). Myself and some friends have used some of the saves there, so don't be worried it will eat your hard drive or anything.

Not playing it on pc has helped me a lot.
Yeah yeah, I'm being kind of smug about it, sorry, don't mean to.

You can download the Gibbed Save Editor to make your own saves if you don't want to search through the save database.

This is why I always keep backups of my save files, and everything else. Not like I don't have the space for backups on my 4TB of external drives or my 9TB Raid5 server...

I remember looking after I finished my first ME2 playthrough for a ME1 save creator and couldn't find one, I just gave up after looking and resorted to downloading other peoples saves that took the opposite choice in the majority of decisions.

You're quite welcome. Be sure to check out

The mods and cheats section [http://www.masseffectsaves.com/mods.php] of that site for things like infinite sprinting out of combat or easier/nullifying the scanning mini-game, along with additional outfits and armors for your playthrough.

and of course enabling recruitment in any order [http://social.bioware.com/forum/1/topic/105/index/1585456], which lets you see all the dialog Bioware had to cut out to make the game work for the console peasants. Bringing Tali on the Horizon mission to ***** out the VS is fun :D

edit: Oops! And don't forget the faces database :p The Obama one is my personal favorite.

Well, beautiful. I need to run ME1 to get the saves directory. Before,I never had this problem, but, whatever.

The Configuration Utility keeps crashing out on me. Like I said,it's never happened before, and there were no hardware changes. So,I ask you; Is there a solution?
