Wait, they have ammo now? Or is that just for the "heavy weapons"?

I just started playing the first Mass Effect, but as I understand it, don't the weapons have some kind of system that calculates everything?

Then it shaves off a tiny chunk of a huge block of metal to hurl at the right speed with the appropriate kinetic energy...

That's why I'm surprised that the armor you get for pre-ordering allows you to carry extra "magazines", because in the first one they had unlimited ammo for all weapons with the explanation you gave.

How does an armour provide a bonus in social abilities?
Does it have a big monitor on the front that shows a smilie face when Shepard is pleased and a an angry "" when he's trying to intimidate people?
