i think that in the second mass effect they wont have commmander shepard being dead because then all the things to do with him getting prothean knowledge from teh beacon on edan prime will be pointless because it hasnt yet been discovered in the game what it all meant and if they had him killed then a big section of the first game would ahve been pointless
Sweet Enola Gay son... Punctuation is your friend. And I could barely understand that. I think you're trying to say that the events of the first game will have been pointless? Well it's part of the Mass Effect lore so it has a point. And it was pretty much said at the end of ME what the visions Shepard had meant. They can build upon it in the sequel... And for that carrying your character over thing, they're probably gonna cop out and have Shepard cloned.

That was getting my hopes up, until I saw that EA's logo was in the developers section. what haven't they claimed as their own?
EA bought Bioware ages ago. I think they announced their intentions to just finance the franchise, but leave all creative control to Bioware. Don't panic yet.

Sweet mother of god that is one hell of a site. I have some new wallpaper. It'll be even better once they put some actual information up.

And it does remind me of Dead Space, but that's certainly not a bad thing.

Looks... really... really good. Definately going to buy it. And they knew that when KIA appeared on the screen, jaws would drop.

I thought it was your decisions which would carry over from the first game as opposed to your actual character? That would make much more sense anyway, especially if Shepard (who was a she in my universe by the way) made some kind of cameo as an admiral or something similar.

Don't worry, it is. At least it should be. They've been saying that you could for years.

Sheperd can't be dead. Bioware said that when Mass Effect 2 comes out, then you can carry you're character from Mass Effect 2 over.

So in number 2, we will still be playin as the original Sheperd we were in the first game.

Didn't they also once say you could bring your BG2 char over to NWN or something to that effect?

/facepalm.

First dick move by BioWare I've ever encountered. A part of me (around 40 hours, to be more precise), just died.

YOU MANIACS!!! YOU KILLED HIM! DAMN YOU, EA! DAMN YOU TO HELL!!!!!

*rant over*

On second thought, I think that killing Shepard is the same reason why they killed Crypto- 137 for Destroy All Humans! 2. With custom characters like these, it just doesn't work to include them in a story unless they're either dead or or just included in passing.

I have to give props to KOTOR 2 now that I think about it. It was inferior in every way to the original, but they pulled off including the many faces of Revan in the story through a conversation at the beginning of the game. Why couldn't they have done that here??? =,(

I don't think so...But to be honest, I haven't checked up on all the news from those games.
But, maybe they couldn't have done that back then, besides, BG2 And NWN are from diffrent series aren't they?

I just really hope we can carry our character over, it would be really usefull.

So what you're telling me is that we have 2 possible scnearioes.

1) Sheperd is now, officially dead. He is beyond the council. He is beyond the Alliance. He is a tale told to dissobidient geth children to make them eat their greens. Yet he still walks the battlefield as one of the most terrfiying pieces of psychological warfare in history...
2) Or 40 hours of my life, the only 40 hours of heroism, awesome and cheer badassery, has just been martyred.

Either way, I'm glad. There's nowhere to take your level 50 juggernaught if you carry on the character. And they could hardly pull a Link on him and just dump him somewhere with a poorly written justification as to where his uber gear and biotic/tech/murder prowess has gone. Playing as, say, the 4th human spectre, thanks to the efforts of Sheperd and humanity's place on the council, could be awesome. You could even work with the other spectres, planning things with them to gain benefits on some plot missions. Imagine Feros where another agent took over one of the AA cannons and held it long enough to take out any geth dropships that show up or provide overkill fire support. Then have another option where they don't comandeer, they just destroy each one of them and you dive in with the Normandy, cutting out that AWFUL Mako section.

I'd doubt Shepard is actually dead as you're supposed to be able to continue with your character from mass effect.

Well I'll be honest I'm sceptical. As soon as I heard about EA getting their grimy mitts on Bioware a part of me died inside. Also the web browser has cerberus written on it which is the group from the book who are interested in advancing the human race in any way possible. I dont fancy the idea of playing as a racist human as I really enjoyed all the interaction between the aliens and the humans in the original game. Also there was the promised continuation from the original game which has already been mentioned. What happened to that then? all that time I spent tinkering up the galaxy was for nought? A pox on all their houses.

Again going back to EA. I really despise them. I know its off topic but I'll use it as an example, imagine Star Wars Battlefront, then the EA made Lord of the Rings conquest. Need I say more. Ea dont care about good games, they care about throwing together any old junk and getting it on the shelves as quickly and as cheaply as possible. Here's to praying they dont do the same to Mass Effect.

they wouldn't kill him off like that, if they were too you would probably get to play as him while it happens.

Yes, they are different series but I'm pretty sure Bioware hyped NWN up by saying you'll be able to import your BG2 char into NWN. And see how that turned out.

As for wether or not importing your character would be "useful", why would you want to? There's not much room for growth considering how powerful you got during the last game. Granted, I was never a fan of taking an uber character and making him even stronger, then doing it again and again. Probably why I never liked DBZ :p... But that aside, I'd much rather build a new character from scratch than have to endure the super-high level cheese from the start of the game...

Could be Geth propaganda since you only see a bit of armour and no actual human body. OR on the other hand anyone remember what happened Gordon in The Dark Knight?.....

Off topic what is the level cap for Mass Effect, played through twice with the same character and not sure if I actually hit the cap or not.
