I have had an idea for Mass Effect 2 floating around in my head, which spawned from me complaining about the classes available being useless if they weren't the soldier class.

I had presented that maybe engineers could be unique in that they fight with an exo-suit, which would use broken down weapons, armour and upgrades to improve the offence, defence and other such things with the suit.
The suit would allow the player to pick up people and objects (which it is strong enough to lift) and hurl them at other enemies, smash enemies and break down doors and scale walls.

But, I started developing it even more in my head. What if there could be even more choice in the game? And it hit me.

The option to play 3 very different characters, all in the same story line.
Commander Shepard, Mason, a wanted criminal and 247, the assassin.

Each character has a different background, motivation, story, view on morality, way of fighting and items.

Shepard is established as either a kind paragon or a ruthless renegade, with military training, a crew and ship and the favor of The Citadel Council (if they survived).
In dialogue and morality, it's all about either helping as many people as you can or getting your mission done no matter the cost.

All classes are effected by Shepard's military background, making him/her disciplined, accurate and tactical. Also, Shepard has access to unique classes only available through military training, that is, all of them are military only.
Shepard is the character with the engineer.

Mason is a criminal because it's fun and good money, he's also has no formal training in weapon use.
How he does stuff is baptism by fire, careful planning and clever choices.
His morality is either reasonable outlaw or unscrupulous criminal during his story and his interactions with people.

In combat, his style is just very wild and untrained. He fired rifles one handed, shotguns from the hip, pistols akimbo and sniping can knock him over. Mason in general is somewhat less accurate, but a lot quicker in terms of speed in movement and attack.

His classes are criminally focused, with emphasis on dirty tricks (such as flash grenades and poison gas mines), stylish finesse (disarm opponent) and killing enemies with as little risk to yourself as possible (spider bomb).

To be honest, I haven't really built up much on 247, other than the fact that he/she focuses on stealth and murder.

But, anyway... my point is, would such a thing be possible in Mass Effect 2? To have multiple characters, story lines, unique classes to each character, etc?

i think you'd be better off applying this idea to a unique IP instead of trying to shoehorn it into someone else's....

It was more an idea of improvment, really... Is improving something shoehorning?

Sometimes... no offense intended, that was just kinda my take on it... sounds like it would be fun, though!

Better vehicle setup, with mods for it (speed, defense, power, hover, jump, ect, ect ).

More mods and tweaking to equipment.

Oh yes finish the game before you release its annoying to buy broken games.......
