So by now everybody knows that you might sacrifice Commander Shepard at the end of ME2. What do you suppose that means for the third installment? If you do lose Shepard, who will replace him?
I've seen some speculation that, since Joker fills in for Shepard in the final cutscene if he died, you would control Joker in the next game. But that doesn't sound quite right; I mean, the whole brittle-bone-disease thing is pretty central to that character, and I don't think anyone in their right mind would send a guy with breadstick femurs into a pitched battle.
Than again, I don't think any self-respecting dev team would repeat the same "back from the dead" frankenstein experience after having used it to such dramatic effect here.
Maybe we'll find out Shepard has a long-lost sibling... or a clone. With a goatee. Who's evil.

EDIT: I've changed the title to something more ambiguous. I've added a spoiler warning. A helpful mod put the "spoiler" behind a spoiler screen. But seriously, if anything is being spoiled here for you in this thread, it's because you've isolated yourself from knowing anything about Mass Effect 2 before playing it, yet paradoxically are here reading about the next game which exists only as a hypothetical. I've done all I can.
