If you haven't heard yet, Mass Effect 3 was delayed until early 2012, most likely January.
I'm not sure what to think about this. There are the upsides that this means they get more time to fine tune it and make it as good as possible. And, after all it is only two months.
But I can't help but has a twinge of disappointment just because I have to wait longer.

Your thoughts?

When the girls on the Jokermance thread are discussing things days before you, you should feel sad.

I was glad it got delayed but the message to the stockholders that said they were going to make it a appeal to a wider audience kind of threw me out of my happy place. Now I'm just worried they will make it a brown shooter. :<

Probably means they are going to try to put a MP mode in.

Maybe, It could mean good things. However, it would be nice to have some clarity on that from Casey Hudson as I think alot of people found it disturbing.

Old news is old.

But still, I'm glad it did. Now I won't be torn between it and Skyrim. Also, as someone else on here said:

ME1: 2007
ME2: 2010
ME3: 2011

That doesn't sit right with me.
ME2 for PS3 was 2010, the 360 got it in 2009 if my memory serves me right.

So long as they use the extra time to their advantage I suppose I don't mind. I'll just have to think of something else to put on my christmas list.

I'm just flabbergasted that for once we get informed about a delay in good time and they even explain the delay.

Wikipedia [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mass_effect_2] says January 26, 2010 as the 360 release date. It was supposed to be released in 2009 but got delayed.
I stand corrected

No disappointment because I figured it would be out in January/February. Holiday [input year] in games usually means next year (if not later).

It also gives them some extra time to polish the game. I'd rather wait and play a really amazing game, then get it sooner and be upset with the quality.

I feel a lot better about ME3 now actually, i don't feel good about most games unless they've had a delay or two...

Exactly. I mean hell, Bethesda didn't announce Skyrim as being legit (even though it was pretty obvious back in 2008/2009) until they were basically done with it. I just have a hard time that Bioware could crack out a sequel to ME2 that's supposed to be so much more and have it done in a year and half or so

AFAIK they were working on ME3 since before ME2 released. So we can assume it was late 2009 or so when development started. So it is @ 2 years in between all 3 games.

Same difference. It's not out now and it's not later yet so I'm still in the exact same place.

Yep that sounds about right. Wait... I just realised something looking at that date! I messed up my leg the same day! Coincidence or what? But does this bode well for me on the ME3 release date...

OT: Delays can be good or bad since the extra time can be used to invest more time in making the game or not having it exist at all... well nearly e.g. DNF was delayed like hell then it looked like it would never see the light of day then Gearbox have taken the game under its wing and now they have already delayed till june to "GET IT DONE WHEN IT'S DONE". But all the same...

You delay the inevitable.
The Reapers are coming. Their Arrival is inevitable.

I wonder if it's a reaction, at least partly, to the reception of Dragon Age 2...

While I rather liked that game, plenty of people didn't and it was frequently accused of being rushed, with good reason.

Perhaps some peope at EA and/or Bioware are thinking, "Hey guys, how about we take the time to get this one right?"

...

Hey, a guy can dream.

Sorry if some people got annoyed that I made a new thread on this, I clicked back a couple pages on the forum pages and didn't see anything about it, then again I have been known to miss obvious things before.

And I've been really busy with school, so I haven't heard much news lately.

OT: It's rare for a good sequel to be released so soon, but it has been done, at least in my opinion, with Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood. I don't know the majority opinion on the game, but I liked it. The story line didn't expand too much, but the main focus seemed to be on the multiplayer.
