Mass Effect 3 import bug

So, since BioWare seems to have drunken monkeys working in the UI department, I have the issue where I can't import my Shepard's face from ME2 to ME3.

It might be silly, but, my Shepard's face is absolutely crucial to me - it's the reason I only just finished ME1 yesterday despite having it for over a year, after finding a way to recreate her perfectly from ME2 (I played the second game first). I don't particularly feel like waiting for a patch that doesn't even have an ETA (and could've been deployed by now if it was something they gave half a shit about), so I was wondering if anyone knew of a workaround to this issue?

I went from ME2>ME1 thanks to http://www.masseffect2faces.com/, so anyone know of something similar to that? Oh and please don't suggest manual recreation, trust me, I've tried it in ME1 over and over and over again.

load up your ME2 save and go to the menu. Choose the squad option and the code is in the top left of the screen.

As of now there's only using the face code, as mentioned in the first response, or manual recreation.

But trust me, the manual recreation isn't that bad. The bug doesn't seem to be complete, as the Shepards that I have imported have the same general structure/features, just the wrong colors, it didn't take me but 5 minutes tops to get my FemShep back and lookin' good.

Aware of it, but it doesn't give the right results.

And don't tell me "grahical overhaul". Blonde hair is not a graphical overhaul of stark red hair, it's the code system reading shit wrong.

Are you playing on console, or PC?

If you're on PC there's a slightly better workaround, details linked from here: http://social.bioware.com/forum/1/topic/323/index/9661093

Also, is it a ManShep or FemShep?

I think part of the issue is that there's been some big changes to the FemShep hairstyles, so the ones used in ME1/ME2 don't have a direct equivalent in ME3. When I imported my main FemShep, I had to recreate from scratch.

I've just got around to importing a ManShep though, and didn't have any problems - I got no error messages, and it looked basically like he did in ME2. Go figure.

Sorry, forgot to mention, PC and FemShep (you can deduce the latter from my use of "she" in the post ^^). And thanks, I'll check out the link (and the links within the link... we need to go deeper)

Btw, I find it odd... they're saying the problem happens in two cases, basically the ones where players don't get a face code - when you import a ME1 Shepard or when you try a new game plus Shepard. The thing is, I've made my Shepard in ME2 (as I said, I only finished ME1 2 days ago) and while my first attempt was with a new game plus Shepard, I've also tried the non-new game plus Shepard (I got both saves) and neither results in the right Shepard. It could be that it's just the hairstyle and hair colour - I tried Photoshopping old hair onto a new bald Shepard last night and she looked more or less similar, but not the same... maybe it is the, but honestly, to me, it looks like a completely different person, at least a younger version of herself (which makes no sense considering the timeline):

I think what you've got there is about as good as you're going to get. Unfortunately i think the difference in engine just means that no ones face comes out looking the exact same. It happened importing me1 to me2 aswell.

I'm sorry you're having trouble with it. I, of course, got the same bug, but I was capable of using the code in ME2 and bring it over to ME3. Yes, ME3 looked different, but not necessarily in that it wasn't the same face, it was just...updated. It actually looked alot better in ME3 too. I was very happy with her new look.

I looked at your pictures and to me it looks the same save for differences. The hair is parted differently and the old hair is a little more orange whereas the new one is a more red. The eyelashes are shorter in the new one and the eye color is a little lighter.

To me, your new one looks nicer, but I totally understand not being satisfied with it, after all Shepard usually becomes very near and dear to the player.
