Oh god, looks likes we have another Dragon Age 2 on the way, I'll have to wait for reviews before even considering picking it up.

If this is true, it will be because Bioware was forced into it. And if it's DLC, what could it be? Probably just challenge maps or vs competitions. It won't be a full blown COD type affair I reckon.

Why're people acting like this is a bad thing?

It's completely optional, you don't have to buy it, and it won't affect your campaign experience whatsoever. Plus it'll widen their audience to those who might not have been as interested as they were before. If you want multiplayer, pay for it, if you don't, don't get it. It's quite simple.

It's a smart business move, I don't see why people are bitching.
I was worryed about MP for ME3, mainly because it would have been near impossible for them to build a soild single player game, AND a decent MP game in the reletively small timeframe they had to work on ME3. It's hard enough to make a good game with both aspects as is, but do it in, what, maybe 2 years round a bout of development. So, what would suffer? The shinny new MP that's EA's lovechild? The story, the whole reason I'd wager the majority of us are coming back for? Both?

So, with that in mind, i hated any talk of MP... damnit just focuse on a good ending, let you next ME game be MP. That's my feelins on the matter, but, if it MUST BE, a DLC MP add on is OK with me, cause that tells me, it's MP that's an after though, not the story. So long as i get my ending they've been promessing me, i could care less if they release DLC in the form of PVP stuff.

So i sympithise with people who are angry at the idea of MP, i know where the feeling come from, but, you've got to be able to roll with the punchs and see the silver linning i say.

Well if they are bring it out on a DLC it mean they are no where near finished meaning they haven't been using a lot of resources on it that could have been taken away from the campagin. Furthermore it mean after the game comes out EA will actually spend a lot of resources to finish it so it might not be terrible multiplayer, but if it is anything but free I'm not getting it. EVER!

I should have expected this sort of shit from EA. Thanks to this, general history of how EA is with DLC's, and the recent spat with Steam that might prevent me from getting ME3 at all, I'm beginning to wonder who is the bigger jerk: EA or Activision.

Annoyed that they're doing it in the first place, but I think this is actually a good idea. Make your game, full, complete, and in its glorious entirety, then spend dev time on the multiplayer and make it available to people who actually want it. I mean if games were sold in two parts, with singleplayer for $30 and multiplayer for the same, I would have a lot more money to buy games since I'd rarely get multiplayer. It's not a bad idea.

It's better to be released as DLC, I say. If you don't want to play MP, don't buy the MP DLC. I want my ME3 to stay SP only.

I guess my issue with it would be more of the mind set that EA are hammering into the Bioware design philosophy, rather then the fact that its optional DLC, and it isn't working. This is another example. Mass Effect was so a very character centric and well rounded RPG-Shooter hybrid, Mass effect 2 place way more time into the development of the shooting and combat aspects then the RPG ones. Now I am aware that the series needed to refine itself I'm not saying it needed to be ME1 with new missions. ME2 was great but it was obvious which element if the Hybrid was now in the driving seat.

Mass Effect 3 is looking to be continuing down that road and the fans have already said that they prefer the balance to the all-or-nothing approach. What leads me to believe this? The fact that when talking about the ME3 development they ran off the list of shooters that they looked at for "inspiration" and the RPG elements got the most insults "and we looked at a few RPGs too". This attitude alone shows how much they are trying to be the next shooter not the next RPG-Shooter. They didn't even have the bare bones 1 or 2 RPGs to mention that they took those "inspirational" elements from.

Does this mean I wont buy ME3? No that will be a day 1 purchase for me, I put WAY too many hours getting my save file perfect in ME1 to transfer to ME2 and perfecting that play through to abandon all that now and not see the series to the last part. But that dosnt mean that I agree with EA pushing them to realse games at the speed they release the Ea Sports games.

Not that anybody from Ea will read this but I would like to say something anyway: EA YOU are not the popular element of this game series or the Dragon Age series, Bioware are. And they know what they are doing so just back off and give them the time they need to do what they do best.

Really, the only thing that worries me about this is the prospect of XBL players armed with Singularity. I'm interested to see how they're going to make this work.

Just another DLC pack I'm not gonna buy. Multiplayer can stay right out of my single-player experience thank you very much! In a way I am glad they are making it DLC and releasing it later, it means it shouldn't bring the rest of the game down to it's more-than likely crappy level.

well as long as the single player isnt affected...except every minute and every dollar spent on multiplayer that shouldnt even exist is one not spent on a single-player campaign that already has the same short dev cycle as ME2.

yep....if this is true, im done with this series.

Ick...

The idea itself is interesting, but I'd really rather not be shaken down for more money after I've already bought a game, for a mode that really should've been in there in the first place.

Plus, why is it that multiplayer has to be in every damn thing? Don't get me wrong, I'm fine with some multiplayer where it belongs, but Mass Effect was just fine as a single player, and I see no reason I should be able to completely taint my perception of the game with interference by a bunch of tea bagging jack holes on Xbox Live.

Ugh...this is looking worse and worse. This series has died fast for me. Mass Effect 1 was decent 2 was horrible, and this looks even worse!

Well, I'm completely and totally not interested in multiplayer...I just hope that this multiplayer is developed by an entirely different team on a different budget and nothing about single-player is sacrificed. I have no intention of buying a multiplayer mode unless it looks beautiful.

Sorry to sound like a Cynical bastard but the DLC will not be produced post Dev-time. It will be produced in dev time and released after it has been given a quick spit-shine. I Fully expect Mass Effect 3 to be an 8-10 hour game and i fully expect EA to be charging full price for it and £20 or so for the multiplayer.
This is also what im expecting, or maybe a 15hour game but exactly like ME2 save for a couple of differences
lol seriously, Cerberus Network will likely give multiplayer for free, like it did for Zaeed, Firewalker and Normandy Crash Site. They made no mention of having to pay for the DLC. Be a little optimistic.

I'm still buying this game. Probably going to have it pre-ordered for me. The fact that multiplayer is there is a shame. I will never use the multiplayer.

Well would not pay for multi-player, co-op on the other hand might be fun, but what I would really like to see is the use of my whole team not just 2 characters in something like final battle etc
(I love having bullets and biotic flying like a hailstorm around me against a huge amount of enemies)

And I love single-player people are mostly just annoyingly selfish little b*tards.. but then again so am probably I, (and I know clans are nice but they are to time consuming...) ;-P

Eh, I'm gonna file this under "Rumor" until it's officially announced. It just doesn't seem like they'd do that in the last game in the trilogy.

Though certainly, it isn't below EA to cram multiplayer into games. Dead Space 2, for instance.
