Mass Effect 3 Party Members: A Step Backwards?

If Garrus or Tali is killed no one would take their places. I'm pretty sure they wouldn't be able to have a substitute becuase that means people who kept Garrus and/or Tali alive would miss out on another character - even if they're generic.

I understand your concerns, because I had them too, but after thinking about what they've said regarding the smaller teams I think they're doing the right thing. I really did love having a big team for Mass Effect 2, but let's face it that game was basically just full of loyalty quests. It was all about the people and barely about Shepard and saving the universe. That stuff just kinda slipped into place in the background.

I will miss characters like Samara (Q_Q) and Legion on board my ship, but would I sacrifice having those characters on the Normandy for a game that focuses more on the story and the close relationship between Shepard and the rest of his crew...? I don't think so. In the end I'm all for deepening the relationships between the crew members we have and Shepard, rather than having 12 who I don't know very well.

Also, I don't think they've confirmed 6 - They have said it's less than 12, but they haven't confirmed 6 either. Who knows.

And hey, at least on the bright side we know we're going to meet everyone again, so it's not like they've been thrown out of the story. We're just going to have to accept and be happy with that

Of course, the game isn´t out yet, and I have faith that Bioware will do something that will please both parts, or at least present a new, pleasent and surprising ideia, because, let´s face it, they deserved it. (Dragon Age 2 can go wait outside, they must have learned with their mistake, right? ...right?)

You do not seem to realize that Bioware is not one monolith of a team working on a game a time, but rather several teams? Each with a different project leader, and each with a slightly different method and ethic of work that they put into the games they produce? Dragon Age 2's development team is not Mass Effect's development team, so worrying that Mass Effect 3 may suffer due to a development team that does not even bother working on the Mass Effect series is rather unnecessary and daft.

Not to mention, Mass Effect 3 has already been in production for a year longer than Dragon Age 2's entire production time, as was Mass Effect 2. Mass Effect's development team is putting more effort and time into the series, so don't sell them short with still over half a year left before it's release date..

Sorry, sorry, lots of blind rage was released in my text. I know that Mass Effect 3 was a different team and project leader, and I understand that is wrong to judge with such a rage a game that didn´t come out yet. But I do not hold back to say that the team working at ME3 should at least take some example in Dragon Age 2 as a least of "what not to do with a sequel" (Yeah, the game is not bad, it is even kinda good, but it´s not exactly what I would call a good sequel).

As far as I know from the ME wiki, homeworlds of various races will be visited in the game, including Earth, Rannoch (Quarian), Sur'Kesh (Salarian), Palaven (Turian), Tuchanka (Krogan) and Thessia (Asari). So don't worry, it shouldn't be largely set on Earth at all. :3

Sounds good. I'd be particularly interested in seeing the Asari and Salarian homeworlds. The latter would also allow for a potentially humerous aside, with Shepard and friends heading out of an evening to see one of Mordins theatre productions. Also, the Asari homeworld (at least the part that we visit should have a more rural/old-fashioned feel alongside the future trappings. It would make a nice contrast to Illium, and I've always imagined the Asari to be the kind of race that would construct their homes/small businesses out of wood/stone and the like.

Oh, and the Quarian homeworld is called Rannoch? Didn't know that Quarians hailed from Scotland [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rannoch]...

Is it bad that I retried the suicide mission twice because Mordin died? first when he was my tech expert and couldn't get the doors closed and second randomly when I left him behind with the rest as a rearguard. I said at first that I'd let whatever happens happen and not retry, but I couldn't bear playing ME3 without his mad professor fast talking personality.

I don't even understand what he was doing on the mission, he's not exactly a combat specialist and the best thing to do with him is send him back to the Normandy at the first opportunity. He was the only reason I didn't have everyone survive on the first try.

OT: There needs to be a middle ground in the amount of characters in ME3 6 was too few in ME1 and 12 or however many it was was too many. how about 8 or 9?

Is it really only six? Oh, well. Hopefully the sixth is cool, but I'm happy that I have my top 3 in Liara, Garrus, and Tali.

The main reason why they're trimming it down so much is so they can actually write more than three conversations per squadmate, and make them more... well, human. Or whatever.

tbh, if your shep is a 'nobody left behind' then we should have access to all from the get -go, although i understand the logic that they were all along for the suicide mission, they fulfilled their roles, survived and so they're free to leave if they wanted. But i can't see a point of them all leaving Shep, to go back to lives that they know will be over soon because theyve seen the reapers are on the way anyway.

It should be a choice thing, like if were continuing for a N.L.B save, than we select half the crew for a 'vital mission' elsewhere while i keep my favourites and collect new guys too. Only to all be reunited a few missions form the end with me then having full access to all party members who lived from all games.

Shame Bioware cant think the same way.
