I picked up on the Beings of Light in the first game. I went, "Ooooh, that's interesting. I wonder if that will ever go somewhere." Then the Reapers showed up and I figured they were the machine devils and I figured the Protheans were the beings of light. Then Mass Effect 2 came out, no mention of said planet, so it just fell into the back of my mind.
Then rumors started coming out about how there was going to be some 'super weapon' to defeat the Reapers, and I figured that planet would be the key. I even told my friends about it and they figured that would work. That way, BioWare didn't end up pulling a cheap move in order to defeat the Reapers: They had worked it into the first game (unless they chose to go with the whole Prothean thing of "Not even the Reapers can stand against an entire united galaxy," which they didn't).

If that is the route they take, saying that thing is a Being of Light, I'm going to be very disappointed because it sounds like they're using it as an excuse to weasel out of the mess they're already in. Now, if the Beings of Light had been hinted at, or straight referenced, earlier in the game, I'd be okay with it. Hell, maybe it was the Beings of Light that were causing the problems in the Haestrom system (unless I missed something we never did get our answer as to why that start was doing what it was doing). That would have been a cool way to tie them into the second and third game. But they were not, so I'm not okay with this child suddenly being one of them. It answers nothing, just changes the child from "Star Child" to "Being of Light". All other questions remain.
