Mass Effect - Andromeda E3 2016 Info And Trailer

EA has revealed some new gameplay footage and information on Mass Effect: Andromeda.

EA has finally given us a peek into what's next for the Mass Effect Andromeda [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/tag/view/mass%20effect%20andromeda?os=%20mass%20effect%20andromeda]. In the trailer to the right, you'll see a mixture of gameplay and design, as EA talks a bit about its vision for the game.

In the trailer, we see the Mako driving, some jetpack usage, and your new personal ship, the Tempest, in action, as well as several aliens, old and new. It ends with a shot of a woman waking up from cryogenic stasis, uttering "we made it" as the title screen comes across the screen. It looks like the core of this game will be humanity spreading out to colonize an entirely new galaxy (hopefully Reaper free?)

Mass Effect: Andromeda is slated for release in January, 2017, although EA didn't give a more solid date than that. It will be released on the PC, PS4 and Xbox One.

I wish I was excited. I wish I got the same sense of wonder and giddy butterflies that I got for the original trilogy. But it's just not there. 3's ending has left too deep a wound on me.

Will I pick this up? Most likely. Will I enjoy it? Probably. But unless this game utterly blows me away, gives me that sense of wonder that the first game gave me, I think I'll be done.

Well. I already said in other thread that it was a bit of dispointment so I won't repeat on that. So for the interesting bits:

- When it shows the Arks, was that Earth? If it is Earth then it couldn't start at the middle of Mass Effect 3 since that was a massive fucking invasion of Reapers. Could be other planets such as Terra Nova, Thessia or even Palaven, but about every single planet with any sort of major population had a Reaper problem. So is either before Mass Effect 3 starts (Which is more likely, also boring) or after, which is far more interesting in my opinion.

- The Tempest looks like a Normandy 2.0, which is cool. Really like the design of it, might even liked it more than the Normandy and I freaking love the Normandy's design.

- That krogan weapon that appears in the image looks cool, I think it is a shotgun. But it may be a rifle... Or something in between if they continue with the sheer weapon variaty of Mass Effect 3 and I hope they do, don't remember ever seeing it before so I hope it's new. And no fucking single player DLC for weapons that are free in the multiplayer this time, right? Right?... *sigh* That will totally be a thing they do again won't it?

- Also in the same imagine, our good old pal the M-8 Avenger peashooter that you will replace as soon as you get the chance. (Or not, Bioware might make it useful this time). In the leaks it said that will be a more complex crafting and modding weapons system including diferent paints for it. I imagine that's why it looks like it does with the white-red color and the scope.

- Speaking of weapons that weapon on the characters hand when he shoot the raging monster it's definitely the Carnifex. Can't make out the other weapons in his back. Imagine one of them it's a black colored Mantis or a Viper, if you can change colors of your weapons it may even be an Incisor, it's not Widow that I am sure off, it's too small for that. The other one may be a Revenant, I don't know. Doesn't look like the Avenger, the Vindicator or a Mattock which are the first three I would expect Bioware to show.

- This chick... The default main female character (Ryder?)? Not badass looking enough I say, gonna change in the CC if she is. Was expecting someone who just make me go like "Yeah, can't make it better than this no matter how hard I try." like Hawke in Dragon Age 2.

Kinda odd that they're randomly adding male Asari to the universe. Not really sure how that makes sense within the lore.

I am 100% certain that is not Ashley, and that not only is it not Ashley, but that we will not be seeing any old characters make a return.

My suspicion is that the story is gonna be a bunch of sentient races (humans, asari, krogans, etc.) launched an 'Ark' of sorts out of the galaxy during the Reaper invasion, to prevent everyone from being wiped out if the Reapers couldn't be stopped. So Andromeda will take place after ME3, but it won't actually matter what ending you chose or what you actually did in ME3 because no one on the Arks will have any way of contacting the Milky Way Galaxy and their entire purpose is to pretty much start over under the assumption everyone died horribly.

Pretty sure that Asari is not male.

im still to some extend interested. but i also havent gotten over the horrific ending from ME3. yes, even after all these years.
but at some stage i believe that bioware has learned from the huge outcry after the worst ending in gaming history that they wont pull such crap again. i keep an eye on it and see what will comes out of it.

I'd be willing to bet with 90% certainty that the Asari shown is the token 'quirky oddball girl' character Bioware seems to love throwing into all of their recent games. Otherwise there's not really much worth taking note of. The game looks pretty enough in what has been shown, but that doesn't really mean much when their last rpg DA:Inquisition also looked damned pretty on release yet was still a fairly mediocre example of a game.

Going to need more details than that to catch my interest, the Mass Effect name alone isn't enough anymore.

So when did an Asari mate with those little cannibalistic bastards from Galaxy Quest?
Well, I mean, the asari ARE kind of the town bicycle for an entire galaxy...

The entire concept of this game screams of laziness so I'll never even touch it.

"Oh, we couldn't figure out how to escape from the corner we drove ourselves into with our shitty writing in Mass Effect 3. Oh well, I guess we'll just make the next one take place in another galaxy."

Just enough already. It's shitty writing from a company that's only a shadow of its former self. They couldn't make a smaller more personal story that takes place during the events of one of three games? Really? All they're able to do is make another "everything is at stake, bigger than before" story? And it doesn't even make sense in the context of the established universe. Fuck off and die already, Bioware.

Unpopular(?) Opinion: I really hope it brings back the MP.

That thing was a gem, and I hope they understand the disconnect between "We don't want the MP to affect sp (galactic readiness)in any way" and "We don't want MP."

Would also be reservedly into some form of drop in co-op, but don't expect it.

So the focus will be on humanity once more. How boring.

I get taking the race that's easiest to recognize when starting a series but we already had the entire series showing just how much cooler Krogans, Turrians and Asari's are then Humans so don't keep forcing us to play as humans.

Color me imppressed; it has that original Mass Effect 1 charm that drew me into the franchise in there first place. I choose to remain optimistic and look forward to seeing how this plays out.

Yeah, why not. I never really cared for the final chapter of the last game and even the previous entries were only about 60% committed. That is always going to be the problem with fully investing yourself in any series from anything you have no personal input into creating, it will eventually disappoint given enough time and pressure. Glad they seem to have brought back the buggy here. Looks like a fresh start so far, no need for over-analysis.

I would love if the MP returned. It was so chill and fun to play with friends. I think I have almost 400 hours put into that MP and co-op would be great too.

_____________________________________________________________ personally I actually enjoyed the ME3 ending (with the extended cut) they could have kept the synthesis option though. I think bio ware new they didn't want to continue shepards story but ME is such a personal adventure they wanted to make the final decision multi optional, to fit what you thought would be the best decision out a bad compromise. Like it's realistic, in terms of a God like machines that are not going to be merciful, having a "happy perfect ending" is inmevitable. A sacrifice seemed pretty fair

I expressed the wrong way, I meant when the Ark project will launch, not the when the game takes actual place. I believed they confirmed to be 600 years after Mass Effect 3.
