The stupidest thing is Ryan Lanza wasn't even the shooter, the media fucked up and released the name (and picture) of the wrong person.

i did find it interesting for the fact that people were blaming mass effect 3 for directly causing the individual to go out engage in a massacre when in the end not only did the killer play it nor was it his brother it turned out it was some poor sod with the same name who the news misidentified as first the killer and then his brother

Oh this is delicious.

I hope most of the commenters know this and don't feel so smugly satisfied with how they wished ill on Bioware for in no way doing anything related to this.

Maybe if the parents are so bloody worried about if video games causes possible insanity they should you know do some actual parenting and check what there children are actually playing instead of going cross eyed and drooling on Facebook...Yeah that big 15 or 18 on the box is there for a reason!

Just seems some parents (i said some! not ALL, no brushing with same tar brush here)just want to blame other things for there own failures instead maning up and taking responsibility for there own offspring.

The lines between Facebook and 9gag appear to have been blurred to the point where the only difference between the two is that on 9gag, an assertion would be followed by cries of "Chapeau, Chapeau!"

I wonder if the media will ever be properly bitched out for releasing the details of the wrong person and sending legions of man-children to harass him.

I lack the energy to be surprised by this. Seriously.

In a couple more decades, it'll be us saying that VR games are corrupting the minds of children and that in OUR days, regular old 3D models onscreen were just so much safer. It's inevitable.

Give it time, guys. People are eventually going to look back on this and laugh, the same way we laugh at the conservative idiots who tried to equate Jerry Lee Lewis or Elvis and the Rolling Stones to the Devil. Society's going to evolve - which really means it'll just find another convenient scapegoat.

We as a species desperately WANT for there to be some kind of root cause for all evil. We WANT to have something to stamp out. The first step was creating the concept of the Devil so we'd have a theoretical adversary to boo and jeer at, the next step involves projecting that imaginary figure's evil onto whatever fits the bill in the loosest sense imaginable.

First Rock and Roll, then Reefer Madness, now the War on Games. It's sad, it's tiresome and it's annoying - but it'll pass. We don't have to raise our kids to believe in that bullshit.

My first reaction was "The fuck?" and then I saw it includes FB. Slowly FB comments are becoming more like Youtube ones.

I love how all the parents/guardians/things judgmentally look down on a game they never even probably heard much less play up until this point. If the killer would have played MLP as his last game you would see the same people calling MLP a corrupter of minds and instigator of sin.

Anyway on a more positive I really enjoyed the song.

I'll be honest with you all, I posted my entire opinion on the shooting itself in another thread so I suppose now is the time to put up my opinion about blaming Mass Effect.

When I first heard this, I was surprised and thought it was some weirdo's joke, but somehow they managed to pull it off on a global scale. First thing I thought was... Wasn't there a thread or 10 on Escapist months ago about Skyrim mods that allowed children to die in circumstances like dragon attack or a particularly pissed off Dragonborn, and we were all here discussing the moral implications and whether or not we're using them?

Seems kind of silly that they completely missed those mods and the 1-2 emails sent to the devs by strange fans who wanted to make it a real part of the game. If they had actually gone through with it, Skyrim would probably be on the punishing fence right now. So... yeah that's where I sit here.

Oh boy, love seeing those type of comments, makes me feel edumicated. But seriously, I don't understand why people keep blaming games when it seems like we're[United States of America] is the only country that has these issues. I don't recall the UK[Multiple countries] having these issues, and I'm sure there's a large demographic that also plays the same games. It just seems counter intuitive to say ban games when a recession is going on in my opinion. I thought goverment were supposed to rationalize situation, not make it even more insane.

There is only one mission that springs to mind where it is possible to directly kill civilians in the entire Mass Effect franchise. And that's where terrorists have taken over the compound.

I can understand a shocked reaction but it's a shame people don't look into what they are blaming.

Your thoughts? I just find it funny Mass Effect has become the punching bag for any issue the Moral Guardians have with Videogaming as a whole. That, and as the comments start to drift towards defending Mass Effect, there are still a bunch of people who think there is a 'massacre' scene in it.
To quote Perls Two things are infinite, as far as we know, the universe and human stupidity. To-day we know that this statement is not quite correct. Einstein has proved that the universe is limited.

What you're seeing is the desperate clawing of addicts trying to avoid the truth. America (or, a large portion of) is addicted to guns, like any addict they'll cling to anything that means they don't have to face that fact, however absurd or broken the logic they create to justify it, in their head it makes perfect sense, because they're addicted.

What they need is help, but God help anyone trying to give it them.

If there's anyone I wanted dead more in that game, it was that Nightwing looking wanna be mutha-fucker. I hated him soooooooooooooooooo much. I was glad I finally killed him.

OT: OP's avatar and the music of the video go hand in hand. I also wonder what would happen if a serial killer was found to be an avid fan of the Kingdom Hearts series. Can you imagine the backlash Disney would get? People would probably try to outlaw the power of friendship and heart.

I don't have the words to describe how stupid and uninformed these people are. 'Mass-Effect-Child-Killing-Simulator' Yep, as far as i recall there was only one child NPC in the entire trilogy and he died while trying to evacuate with a transporter. The protagonist had nightmares about it the entire game, ok, at least 3 times i think, clearly that was enough to make this a child killing simulator.
