I know that this happened a while ago, but it still makes my blood boil. This is what is the problem with the media in relation to video games. if you look at the fox news video on youtube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PKzF173GqTU&feature=related)the so called "expert against the game hadnt even played it and her sole 'qualification was that she wrote a book. they continually cut off the actual game expert and brought irrelavant and erroneous data to support their conclusion. im just so sick of people thinking that they are 'protecting the children' by cracking down on video games, there are hundreds of ways that time, energy, and
money could be spent that would actually help.

yeah, that was a long time ago. Like a year or so ago I think. That's just someone talking out of their ass without actually playing the game or knowing what their talking about. The media wants to pick on something and they pick on something that they can distance from themselves I guess. That is the best I can come up with.

But besides that, I played and loved mass effect! As for the sex scene I've seen more hadcore things on FOX channels mid day! I also bet no one in the media actually played the game, so they didn't realize that it's for adults and assume that it's for children even though the box clearly states M for Mature! It's nothing more than a sensationalist media for a society trying to blame their kids problems on anything but themselves!

It's never too late to be pissed. Now that your brining it back up I can say that I am also still pissed about it. It didn't do much to hurt the game, in fact I'm sure that it probably sold them some copies. But still, I think Bioware learned its lesson, and will now keep on the down low about the sex in the game in Mass Effect 2.

I'm still gritting my teeth over it I HATE FOX for this if they sat down with the game they would realize it was not a "super porn adventure through space". But really brillant and emotional experience in which you encounter many situations that you must resolve based upon moral values and a exciting story through space meeting various creatures and worlds while uncovering the plot to destroy it all.........ok i think I'm done now

EDIT: oh wait i'm not done I just read about the protecting the children part..............THAT IS BULLSHIT technically by the state im considered a child because im not out of high shcool yet but I've been gaming for.....11 years for much of my life I played halo when I was 8 and I'm not some sort of psychotic killing machine because I'm not insane and I understand I don't have the right to take another person's life

the games are a scapegoat but no one tells the media this but they probably wouldn't believe it the media only shows one side to the story and their side is very biased they should take that whole story write it down AND SHOVE IT UP THEIR ASSSSS and for the record all of the school killings weren't caused by games but by the fact that those who caused them were out of their mind........ok i'm calmed down now I'm done

I disagree, primarily because I don't believe that- at any point- did BioWare publicize the 'hawt alien sexz' aspect of the game as a selling point. It was an incidental part of the storyline, and in fact, it was entirely possible to miss it completely.

Continuing the complaints only extends the controversy, and frankly, I think that works against those folks who would rather the prudes lost interest and wandered away.

Of course, you might just be saying "it's never to late to express your irritation here" (on the Escapist), and... well, yeah: I can't really find any problems with that.

The expert was staged to be quite. Those interviews always are CNN MSNBC MSN FOX BBC they have a script made up and set before hand.

The only time its not scripted is when they have an congress man on the air unless they are bribed.

It was hard to get pissed about this stuff because I've just come to accept that people are stupid, and generally ignorant of whatever they talk about. They were at least so obviously ignorant and douche-baggish that any smart people would know that they were wrong.

What I did love was the internet ruining her book scores on all websites and posting sarcastic comments such like "Man this cover is terrible, I'm never going to buy this book. Aren't you glad video games aren't judged like this." She eventually had to apologize because they were ruining her book sales. Heh.
