Mass Effect installation help.

I've just borrowed a copy of Mass Effect off my friend, but he didn't have the instruction manual with the key on it. Is there any way of playing the game without the key?

I've tried some that I found on the Internet, and it seems to work and install, but when I try to play it, it asks me over and over to put the keycode in. Putting in a code does nothing.
