Dak looked up sharply

"What would you know of it? Humans have nothing even near the tribal system of the Turians. Anyway, how did you learn to understand Turian?"

Elle was frazzled by how the Turian reacted to her statement. "When I learned who was on my team I thought that I should at least try to learn their language. I'm still kinda shaky and only understand a few words and a couple of sentences. And anyways I may not have a tribe but I did have a family. We were just as close as any tribe."

"You are close, yes, but the Turian tribe is different. Not better, but different. But it makes it all the harder to let go." he paused for a moment, then continued, "Enough. Let's pay attention to the mission."

Nima walked to the end of the tunnel, then looked outside carefully, tossing a rock with no results. "This room is clear."

Lag was still thinking about what Dag had said. He was right a tribe was different from family. What had he done to warrant exile; death would be preferred. He unconsciously ran his hand over the smooth grooves in his insignia that branded him tribe leader. What had he done to his tribe? So that cleared it up. Dag was here to reclaim honour, and Lag was here to maintain his.

"Yeah, looks clear to me." Jason said as he looked down the end of the tunnel. "I guess they thought the previous traps would stop us. But we should still keep our guard up."

"You're right...wait..." She looks around carefully.

Lag cocked his ears listening for any disturbance.

A "statue" in the corner suddenly charges, moving inhumanly fast and knocking Nima to the ground as she struggles. "Help...it's cutting off... my air hose!"

Lag drew his pistol dropped to one knee and fired at the being. It's sheilds dropped and it threw Nima to the ground and charged Lag. Lag smiled and fired his throw at it but at the last second it dodged the attack and tackled Lag to the ground. Lag wrestled with the being but it's strength was much greater than his and he felt himself losing. A shot from another teammate gave him the distraction he needed to cast off the being and before it reacted he had his fist around it's throat. It kicked him back knocking him down the rest of the team surrounded it and it's head jerked back and forth as if looking for a way out.

Nima aimed her pistol and fired twice, hitting the beast in the head. She then drops to one knee, panting. "What...the hell...was that?"

Lag turned over the beast then stepped away cursing in Turian. That's a Ra'ja i believe; I thought they were a myth. These were supposed to be guardians to Prothean homes in their time, but as I said they were a myth....

"That's not a myth."

"I guess not but this now goes deeper than just a missing Spectre."

"You're right." She walks through the door, looking around carefully.

"That was scary. This happened and were not even near our destination. I can't imagine what will be waiting for us when we get back up top."

Well the Protheans had many different tricks so keep on your guard

"Treble check anything in our path up ahead. We can't risk another one of them attacking us again."

Well unfortunately for us they are cloakers so I don't even know how many are in this room they could all be Ra'Ja or simply statues, um...does anyone have thermal scanners that could be our only hope?"
