I finished Mass Effect* yesterday, but I missed quite a number of sidequests. I have a a save from before the final battle, and before ilos, as wel as before Noveria (Its the final mission beofre Ilos for me). So, do I have to go back to before I beat Noveria, or can I do sidequests concerning the Citadel at any of the other 2 saves

*God, im gettting sick of typing about Mass Effect

If you're doing a file to carry over to ME2, then do EVERYTHING so you can get ennough paragon/renegade to save Wrex(or cheat like I did with a full paragon code lol), otherwise do absolutely whatever you want as long as you get the XP.

You're probably going to have to load the save before noveria, if i remember correctly if there's only Ilos left (Feros/Noveria/Therum done) your ship is locked and you can only go straight to Ilos afterwards.

Actually, as long as you don't go to Ilos, you can still do some side quest before taking on Saren.

Or just do his short side quest.

OT: I think Broken Orange is right.

Considering that I was ready to hang myself by that point, I really didn't invest too much time in completing every single side quest.
I will say though, that the bonuses you get for Mass Effect 2 when you've carried a good save over are well worth it. If you're not finding the gameplay and driving the fucking Mako to be nervous-breakdown-inducing, go for it.

I will say though, you don't need to do every single side quest to save Wrex- I didn't, and he made it to Mass Effect 2.

Don't forget to get the DLC "Bringing Down the Sky", it's free on PC. I might mention SPOILERS so beware if you don't know things.

You don't HAVE to do everything before you finish your game, there are plenty of things you don't need for the next game but as an insane completist I've done everything in a couple of games and left out specific missions in places to see how that effects ME2.

Long and short there are very few things you NEED but the extra experience, money and resources pay later on. The crew missions are a good idea too. If you start a fresh game of ME2 (not a carried forward save) it assumes you did a lot of things, like killing Wrex so if you want to see that branch you don't need to play through again.

Also it assumes you killed the council.

Yeah, I got the DLC, completed it, then Wrex died and I reloaded just before that. I might do it again later.

I cant play too long anymore because of the damn Mako. I just wanted to do the missions about the secret society.

Maybe to summarize others; any side mission can be done before Virmire (the story mission after Feros and Noveria), but after Virmire any side mission you need to go to the Citadel for becomes uncompletable. However, any other missions can be done, because nothing forces you to go to Ilos until you choose to.
