To paraphrase..."Someone on the internet likes something I don't like, even after I tell them why I don't like it? They must be STUPID!".
Replace internet with real life and that's pretty much how I go about my existence.

I'd say that's why I'm single, but it's obviously my ex's fault for being wrong all the time.

Much the same. The combat was never good in the first one, sure it worked but it wasn't good. ME2 I hated how tight they pulled the camera while aiming so your character filled too much of the screen just off centre and that just annoyed me to death.

I never bothered with 3. The writing in 1 and 2 is so sub par it just failed to grab me. I'm aware I'm in the minority thinking that though.

...I'm on the opposite side of the fence. I liked the first game's cover system, controls and equipment better than the second by far... and the mako handles fine with a keyboard and mouse. Still haven't played the third, so we'll just have to see... but from the looks of it, it still has that goddamn ridiculous scripted cover system the second game had.

I have a 100% completed Renegade, and a 100% completed Paragon save. Got all the achievements, completed the game 100% about 11-12 times, so yeah, no more ME1 for me.

If you successfully snuck up on enemies and started sniping them, they wouldn't know what the fuck was happening and wouldn't get into cover (or they'd get into cover the wrong direction) making your ambush all the more awesome.
Sounds like me when snipers are shooting at me in Far Cry 2. Seriously, several times, I find that I'm better off just driving away than hunting down the sniper.

I may be Robin Crusoe on this one, but I actually like ME1s combat more than ME2s. I didn't originally, it was the other way around. But for some reason I just find ME2 to be really dull all of a sudden. I can't bring myself to play it anymore, it sends me to sleep. But I still kind of like the first one. Playing as an adept (with a bonus weapon ability) was really fun. Just lifting dudes into the air and sniping them down never seemed to get old.
Maybe I'm just wierd like that.

Although, ME3 definitely has the best combat of the series.
