So aparently Mass effect may Be made into a movie.I don't really like the idea for a few reasons

1. Shepard, the fact that shepards gender/charachter isn't really set in stone (though some people are convinced that the standard guy you see in the cover is "canon" I disagree) It would just seem jarring to some people seeing the default shepard (particually if your like me and prefer femshep)I supose I can't really blame them for going with the default but still it would ruin the movie for me.

2. The game itself is very cinematic, I don't really see how they could improve it overall. It just seems they're running out of ideas and this is just to make money. Im not saying it couldn't make a good movie but this kind of leads into my third reason

3. Videogames and movies just don't seem to work that well, there are probably many reasons but generally they either turn out really bad or just medeocre (prince of persia, and it seemed to have all the right people behind it), this trend could change in the future (mabye like comic book movies) but right now I just get the feeling that it would turn out kind of average, like theres some bizare curse against anything adapted from a videogame (perhaps its name is Uwe Boll). Then again I could be wrong.

I think reason 1. is my main complaint, also because then I guess default shepard would be "canon" (which would make shepared just like every other space marine/war hero/ standard sction hero, at least in apearance).

I also have a question, how would you feel if they made Shepard female in the movie?

(I know I'm biased towards Femshep)

Well first of all, I wouldn't see a Mass Effect movie unless it got amazing reviews. And to your other question, I wouldn't mind them making Shepard female if they treated her like Samus. As in, no sexual Hollywood BS.

I'm pretty sure if they do a movie, it will be outside of the Shepard storyline. Bioware has set up the Mass Effect universe to be one that carries on after this trilogy of games. I just hope a film doesn't ignore the intricacies in the political system and interspecies conflict.

I fail to see why we need a Mass Effect film. The games do a good enough job of character development and conveying and emotionally charged story to its players. I don't see what a movie would do any better or different from the games.

Waste of time, money, and it could quite possibly tarnish an amazing franchise.

I was going to mention that, I think a movie within the ME universe could work, like perhaps one of the prequel novels. I guess I just assumed that when they mentioned "movie" it was going to be about Shepard.

Mass Effect's story, to be blunt, was average. It didn't present new ideas, but it had good presentation. The real draw to the story of the game was that you got to choose how it unfolded. A movie would ruin that.

No, just no.
Not to be rude but I had a history teacher for all intents and purposes was a fantastic teacher, but he hated video games with a passion.
But he had no problem with games made into movies. If it's not about Shepard whenever you say Mass Effect people would go hey yeah I really like (protagonist movie character) then if someone mentioned Shepard they'd say "You nerd that's the video game bull shit that doesn't mean anything."
Mass Effect is about Shepard if you remove him/her then it's not Mass Effect.

although Shepard would probably not appear in the movie, it could be made (in a very expensive way) to accommodate both by making it in faux 3D. Wear blue for male Shepard who somehow always looks like a sex offender, wear red for a young attractive woman who sounds like a forty-year-old gym teacher. (There would be matching headphones)

What would make the movie worth seeing would be if it were told from the Rach'ni perspective during the war.
