Honest to goodness, if this came out on PC and included redone textures and effects, I would buy it. The PC versions of the Mass Effect games are pretty lackluster console ports, with an inexplicable broken lighting system on some rigs (including mine).

Mass Effect 4 won't relate to Shepard or the events of the previous three games
yes, because they know they ran the original story into the wall, perfectly. And are now trying with 'rebooting' everything.
nice*

I think it will be a push for them to run at 1080p 60fps since the new consoles are struggling to even get close to one or the other at this point.

Also aren't the ME games in HD anyway? 2 and 3 are without a doubt even if some of the texture qualities are a bit lackluster. (The low res enemies in the background at the start of ME3 comes to mind)

As one of the weirdos who actually liked the original ending and hated the extended cut, I sincerely hope that if they do do this, you have the option to choice which you get. Because seriously, fuck the extended cut.
I think the original ending failed on every last conceivable level for being any sort of "ending" that made any sense, provided any closure, or matched the themes and tone of the rest of the 120+ hours spent with the franchise. What an abomination.

The Extended Cut isn't perfect, but it addressed a large majority of the issues and brought that "F" up to a passable "B".

OT: I'd... probably buy a remastered version, despite how much money I've already sunk into the franchise (I've been holding out on a sale for the last DLC of Omega and Leviathan). But, well, calling it an "HD remaster" is a bit redundant; the games already are in HD. The first game, sure, could use a serious kick in the pants, and those plastic hair helmets universally need to be improved (give it the Lara Croft treatment).

But, honest, and truly, I'd like a complete, total, inclusive PS4/XB1 collection to future-proof the series for me, since my Xbox 360 is failing (yet again), and I know all that progress is going to eventually be lost... sooner than I'd like.

That said, I would ask for FIVE small, simple changes/additions:
1) TALI'S FACE. Don't you skimp out on us like last time
2) Fix Garrus's face in the original (such low resolution)
3) Don't care how superfluous and unnecessary it is, give me ONE mission in ME3 with a Mako or Hammerhead. Just one.
4) Fix Allers' puffy wax face. Or replace her with Emily Wong, like everyone wanted.
5) Put Anderson's cut speech back into the game about how Shepard is like the son/daughter he never had. That was too good to cut.

Yes, I dare to dream of the impossible. Thanks in advance, Bioware.

I doubt that Bioware has any intention to fix Mass Effects bugs (Garrus' wierd texture glitch in ME1, Conrad claiming Paragon Shepard put a gun to his face in ME2, etc.) but I'm sure EA would be open to the idea of getting Bioware to put a slight texture size increase and sell it again for $60.

BioWare has been pretty up front even before the release of Mass Effect 3 that ME3 was going to be the end of Shepard's story, and that any new game after ME3 would have a whole new story and characters. That's not a reboot, it's a typical spin-off.

I'm not sure whether I should want BioWare to do this or not but I know I would buy it if they did. I get the feeling that I'm not alone in this.

HD re-releases for (next)current-gen systems seem to be all the rage these days [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/130327-Tomb-Raider-Definitive-Edition-Coming-to-Next-Gen-Consoles], especially given that neither the Xbox One nor the PS3 are backwards compatible.

I've got enough friends who haven't gotten around to playing the whole series, and if they do will probably miss out on some of the good DLC, that I could make use of this. I also love the series to death, and would probably end up getting it myself.

I would consider purchasing this, I was somewhat interested in Mass Effect but as a PlayStation owner I wasn't about to start from number 2, that seems counter to the very idea of the game.
Mass Effect 1 was released through the PSN a while back, so you can now actually play the entire trilogy on the PS3. The PS3 version of ME1 includes the Bring Down the Sky DLC, sadly not Pinnacle Station as apparently Bioware lost the files for it (sounds weird, but that's the excuse).
Okay, didn't know that. It's gonna take me a while to churn through Dark Souls II then Witch & the Hundred Knight but I'll probably give it a go after that. Way to cost their PS4 bundle a sale ;P

OT: Can we get a HD edition of ME1 for the PC to? Not too bothered about ME2 & 3 at the moment, because they came out relatively recently and aren't that far behind the graphical curve. And yes, the including the all or at least most DLC would be the sensible choice, but I will be very surprised if EA understand that.
I guarantee you that textures and lighting from the modding community will easily surpass any sub-1080p "HD" re-release for PS4/Xbone.

If they do, I better get a fix for ME1 so that my brand new AMD CPUs don't make impossible to play -_-

First off they would have to make ME2 and ME3 like ME one then put in alot of optional Mako bits because scanning is for suckers. And then I might buy it. Oh and it has to be on PC too.

I think there is a misconception that BioWare would actually make the port to HD considering the ports of Jade Empire to the PC, Mass Effect 1 to the PC, Mass Effect 2 to the PS3, and Mass Effect 3 to the Wii-U have been outsourced to another company. So any bugs issues or problems people have with the games probably won't be addressed at all, the only thing that might happen is that we are given the DLC, but then I see the price of the game being higher then people would be willing to pay or each game would be released individually.

if they include all the DLC with it id buy a Xbox one or PS4 version of the trilogy hell id even pay $60 if it came with all the DLC for all 3 games otherwise id pass.

Aaaaand HD remakes have officially crossed 'the line.'

Paying $30-$60 for a 'remastered' game with slightly shinier looks and a larger scope to fit on modern TV's was acceptable. It was bullshit - given how little work was done to most of them (most just adding what was equivalent to a texture pack mod that any modder could have offered you), but hey. Fine. New generation of people enjoying a previous generation of games. It'd be nice if they took the opportunity to fix some issues (like Metal Gear Solid 2's god awful controls), but whatever.

But Mass Effect? They aren't offering anything of value with a Mass Effect HD remake. The game already runs perfectly at HD resolutions. Its perfectly playable with no black bars or issues. It's not introducing Mass Effect to a new audience either - anyone who has interest in Mass Effect can still pick up Mass Effect and play them all. On their native consoles. And what would the fans get for their purchase? Is spending $60 on a franchise you already own and have beaten really worth it for some shinier textures and some DLC?

I mean, cmon. There are better places to allocate those resources.

Save game backwards compatibility. Seriously the whole reason to play the entire series.

No, thank you, BioWare. I already own the trilogy on my Xbox 360, and as I wasn't particularly fond of the ending, I don't feel particularly inclined to buy it again, especially after the way they handled it. I'll just stick to replaying it without giving them more of my money, if I feel the urge to do so.

I think the HD remake has similar issues to the ME3 issues, for its a very common topic on the BioWare Forums, it seems every one to two weeks a big thread starts with someone asking for it and now this is showing people are even stalking the developers on Twitter to get it made.

For some people I could see them wanting it if its one of the few games they still play from the old consoles and just want to remove that clutter instead of keeping one console for one game, but for me it shows the flaws with the new consoles and why Sony and Microsoft won't get getting a console purchase out of me.

Meh. I already have two copies of each game in the series (360 and PS3 versions). I don't think I need a third. If the ending to Shepard's story wasn't such a letdown to me, then I'd be all over this, but as it stands I'll just keep my original copies.
