Ghandi I doubt Bioware will fix them the game has apparently sold a million world wide already, so as far as the business is concerned people will buy another Mass Effect with the same defects that this game has. The defects in the game as well as the weak gameplay are really the two things keeping me from buying this game as much as I enjoy it. Ironically even Assassin's Creed which has an assload (pun intended.) of its own problems on both systems doesn't have the retarded frame drops, and texture pop in that Mass Effect has on the 360 at least and the level of overall detail is about the same......

Texture pop-in is a "feature" of the Unreal 3 engine. The only way to avoid it is to have longer loading screens. Bioware thought that would annoy people even more than the texture pop.
Personally, I could put up with an extra second or so of loading screen in order to avoid the worst pop-in.
There are some real bugs in Mass Effect, the decryption minigame sets its difficulty wrong, skills can disappear off the skill wheel, and the AI is a bit thick in certain situations (not good at recognising obstacles to fire).

Pop in to the degree that we see here is a feature now? You can't be serious, almost all games have pop in graphics sure but like this?
Mass Effect is a type of RPG I like, not to complex if you don't want to but still there is plenty to do.
I like the duck shooting leveling thing but I really think mass effect is a bit on the easy side.
I'm currently playing on hardcore but when I think back to the first time I played it and well, had like 3 million credits after a couple of hours and so I could by Spectre weapons at the guy on the Normandy with shooting powers over 300 i kinda felt like a God and my shotgun like the finger of that same person. One other thing; The dialogue let's you choose how to respond to each situation but why do they lie about what
you are going to say, I love the idea and it's not that big of a problem, but when I choose to say: It's okay and my character says like: thats perfectly fine by me and I love you. That kinda ticked me off sometimes.
Besides that I have to say I frikkin rules, the choices, the voiceacting, the story, It all comes together pretty good and I'm finishing my next
playthrough currently lvl 49 so only 11 to go for the last 2 achievements I'm gonna bother for.

Note the inverted commas around "feature", intended to denote an ironic use of the word to describe a bug or flaw.... Texture pop is a consequence of the way the Unreal Engine streamlines it's loading process. It's very evident in Mass Effect because Bioware chose to prioritise short loading times.shadow skill said:

I don't think that's necessarily true. Some people might not want to put up with the glitches. But I think Bioware wants to make the best game they can, and the glitches were only because they ran out of time (as developers always do when working on such an ambitious project). I don't think it will be gone completely, but I do think it will be better. And with any luck they'll drop the UCW idea, or at least make them more interesting.
i just finished it.. i enjoyed the game a bit, the story was pretty fun, but when i finished i was like, oh, where did these credits come from. i recall everyone on the net saying it was 20 hours, how come i did it in 11 and i think i got most side quests :\
11 hours? I doubt you did get most of the sidequests then. Took me 40 hours first time, and I missed quite a lot of sidequests.
I've just finished my third playthrough, on Hardcore, and Mass Effect is easily the best RPG Bioware has created since Baldur's Gate. I've already started heading through on Insanity.
There are a number of flaws, but overall they're more annoying as blemishes on an otherwise fantastic game than showstoppers in their own right. The shadows and texture popping are the biggest examples, as well as the general annoyance of elevators and random loading at times.
Hopefully their new EA ownership won't ruin the followups - it's supposed to be the opening of a trilogy if I remember correctly.

I've also realised why I like Mass Errect so much, because to me it feels alot like Fallout. Do the missions your way. That was my biggest problem with Oblivion, it was so linear. At least Mass Errect you get to choice what to do in the missions... how bad arse you want to be ala Fallout.
I hated seth green in mass effect. I like ask him if he is ok and he starts shouting about being the best and all emo-ish with how he overcame his problems. Plus his character model had a constant annoying smirk/grin i wanted to shoot him by the end. I know why its such a long walk from the galaxy map to the pilot seat!! I like the game as a whole pretty much so far- I've run through the first trio of post-prelude missions so far, filled my roster and such.
My only real complaint are that there are some wacky glitches I've come across:
- Getting caught on a rocky outcropping near the very start of the game that, when save/reloaded, set me outside the boundaries of the world. Not devastating, since it only forced me to use the mission start quicksave about five-ten minutes back, but it's made me wary of lingering on the edges of things.
- Having my save denied from me because I fled from an encounter with a Thrasher Maw and never opened the option back up to me when I was 'safe' (the game apparently believed that I was still in combat until I either went back and killed it or returned to the Normandy)
- My own units pushing me out of cover to get some for themselves. Thanks, Tali. :/
- Getting caught inside the Galaxy Map area after exiting from it- thankfully talking to the navigator thankfully broke me free, but for about three minutes I thought I was about to lose an hour's progress because save/load wasn't working.

Turning off motion-blur improves a lot, performancewise.
Also, best game I've played in so long. Sure there are the issues of texture popping, but they're not as bad as some people make them to be. You notice them, but are not distracting from the gameplay in any way.
