Mass Effect

So, ive heard such great things about mass effect, and ive always loved bioware games.
But ive never really had the urge to try Mass Effect, mainly because I heard that 70% of the game was dialogue, but after playing Dragon Age: Origins and actually LOVING the constant dialogue I figured Mass Effect might be fun. I also loved the KOTOR series.
Now im wondering a few things about Mass Effect
First of all, how easy is it to get attached to the story?
Second of all, I like to be a combination of a few things on games, so im wondering, is there the possibility of being a medic/sniper on Mass Effect?
Third of all, PC or 360?

I certainly enjoyed it's story despite the feeling that it is way too short. Also, I enjoy the customization system although it is quite accurately liked to a mother looking after her children.

EDIT: Yeah, you can make a sniper but the shotgun is really fun. Just put everything into sniper rifles and healing skills.

You can be a sniper (yeah, I know, ninja'd) and... couldn't biotics get some healing powers?

But. I loved the game, even though it has it's flaws, it's my favourite game to this day. Haven't played Dragon Age yet, but I can't do it yet due some difficulties. *sniff*

Very easy for me, although it does help if you just jump in with two feet and let yourself become immersed completely.

Yes you can be a medic sniper, I'm pretty sure every character type has first aid, and you'll have to play through once as the soldier, using the sniper rifle frequently to unlock it as a bonus.

PC, although I'm a PS3 fanboy, so I'll never say 360, ever, even if it's 360 exclusive....

Oh, and try to use the "Hardcore" difficulty after some point. It made the game a little more challenging. Though the boss fight was still too easy.

Buy it on PC - I haven't played the 360 version, but everyone except literally no one says it's better on the PC.

Better controls, better textures, higher resolutions, free hour and a half slice DLC, etc.

From the moment the opening cinematic began, I was hooked on Mass Effect. (And let me just say that the endgame was my first ever 'jaw-hanging-open, OMG-can-they-do-that?' moment in a game.

Some of the character classes *are* sort of dual class. For example, the Vanguard = weapons/biotics. But there are specializations to those classes as well, and the 'Medic' specialization is open to an Engineer (tech skills) or a Sentinel (tech/weapons .. including your sniper rifle.)

And, while I started playing on a 360 and a ginormous-screen TV, I'm actually more looking forward to playing ME2 on a PC. So, because ME2 will take your game saves from the first game and utilize your decisions throughout, I kind of wish I had done more on PC for ME1.

Yes, you can be a sniper and a medic, but Sniper Rifles kinda suck in Mass Effect. They are underpowered with ridiculous sway.

The biotics are like Mage characters, the techies are handy for opening locked doors and getting good gear.

To be honest, all you need is a Soldier with points in Assault Rifles and you'll power through it.

Just make sure to bring Tali along to open the hard crates, and Wrex or Liara for Biotics (Kaidan is a pussy)

To be perfectly honest, I really didn't make huge use of the first aid skills (except for the neural shock, which is badass). Every Spectre gets the 'unity' power which allows for revival of fallen comrades, so it wouldn't be unthinkable to just focus on the weaponry you enjoy.
To play sentinal, you REALLY have to play a tactical game. Run 'n gun will get you killed HARD. In fact, I started a 'Insanity' level runthrough with a Sentinel and never made it through...my first time ever having to tone down the difficulty.

...also...I erred previously...the 'Sentinel' is a biotic/tech combo. Infiltrator will give you a tech/weapons combo...but doesn't open up the 'Medic' specialization.
However, if you 'unlock' the sniper skill and acheivements in earlier playthroughs, you may be able to have access to it in later playthroughs with different character classes.

I was playing on Insane when Dragon Age suddenly came and stole my life.

Didn't notice that much of a difference between Veteran and Hardcore, honestly.

Never trust someone who doesn't punctuate.
I'd go with the PC version.
The (admittedly rather shallow) strategic portion of the combat is handled effortlessly, and if you for some incongruous reason hold graphics as a major selling point; they are far more crisp and clean on a decent-enough rig than on the limited specifications of a console.
Also, make you sure you play as a female.
Jennifer Hale's voice work is out of this world.

Infiltrator is worth it, yes. Despite what somebody up there said, sniper rifle is incredible; it's not the best for killing off a mob, but you can take down a massive robot tank after you've upgraded your skills a bit. Personally, I went Infiltrator and focused on weapon and tech skills.

Oh, and I'd recommend PC. They've released a lot of patches now that put it on a whole new level away from the 360 version.
