How do the parents buy the kids these games and then when one shooting happens they decide it may have been a bad call?

Starts with an R... R... Retarded... No... Reactionary, yes. Retarded too I guess. Throw that into the Retardtionary soup I'm making.

Wow, American culture is weird... If this stuff was happening in the UK all we would get is like a few stiffly worded letters to the Local Council and/or MP and maybe the one peaceful demonstration. I doubt any Time Crisis cabinets would be unjustly abducted from their homes. All this implied blame is just silly.

"I'm not saying people shouldn't have violent games"

*issues rewards for handing in violent games*

After handing out all these rewards for giving up violent games then saying you don't blame games comes off as retardedly insincere

Then again there haven't been many shootings in the UK, I'm sure there was one or two school shootings which is tragic but the lack of any guns anywhere does tend to lower the rate of shootings in a country's crime statistics.

Could some Escapists from the US kindly get jobs in the media, because I think you're the only ones that can talk sense into these fools?

How about not having guns within reach of your children, f*****g idiots?

No, cause that would impede on our Second Amendment rights blahblah fucking blah.

That asshole from Newtown (I'm not even gonna mention his name cause he doesn't deserve it) got the guns from his mom's home, because they weren't properly locked up. That is where the argument should begin and end. Better gun controls, and better mental health checks on people who want to buy guns.

Oh, and better parenting skills. Why the FUCK should a 9 year old be able to play MW3, an M-rated game? The parents should be paying attention to their kids and what they are playing. Also, the cashiers at Best Buy, Wal-Mart, and wherever else you can buy video games should take notice, and if they see a parent and a young child getting this game, they should ask "Sir (or Madam), do you know that this is an M-rated game with mature content like blood?", and make sure that the parent understands what the fuck they are buying their kid.

'Whose Line Is It Anyway?'
I don't see an issue with that. Nothing works wonders on one's outlook like a Whose Line marathon. (Plus, I'm not sure its exactly 'non-violent'. Still a great show, though.)

On topic: the whole thing seems silly, but particularly the whole get out homework shindig. Because being ridiculously strict about video games is so much more important then the folks' educations, eh? Its a very reactionary response that seems to be quite common after these sorta tragedies, despite the fact they're usually misaimed.
To be quite honest, there's a lot of hands in the shape of guns on that show. We're watching you, improv people![/quote]

Hands can be shaped like guns, lets start banning hands!

I'm surprised none of this communal wrath has been brought to Koei since they supposedly found Dynasty Warriors in the Sandy Hook shooter's room.

Granted, it's based on a tabloid report, but if we're going to jump to ridiculous conclusions, why not go all the way right?

Wonder if arcade cabinets will start switching content - no more of those Terminator shooters that cost 2 bucks to play (my guess for what those "people in the bathroom" heard since those games are absolutely everywhere).
Blaming Dynasty Warriors....Yeah maybe when a kid goes on a rampage with a ring-blade or giant bladed fan or some other completely impractical fantasy weapon.

The shooting of children in school has more to do with the lack of morals and honor in our society, not out video games. We need to get back to the place where we shame people who act oddly. That means you Goth kids! We get it, you're "different". We're all convinced that you're not whiny little dirtbags who are crying out for attention. Now shut up, take off your makeup, and play some football!
Because shaming people who act totally will stop school shootings.

Someone should ask this mayor if trading in a gun would be valid for his program. I get the feeling he'd be FAR less supportive of that...
Ditto. What happens if I trade in my gun? "Get free out of jail"?

In other news, the state of Massachusetts had decided to block all television programming that contains "violence of an extreme nature", leaving viewers to choose between reruns of 'How It's Made' and 'Whose Line Is It Anyway?'.

Unfortunately the only episode of 'How It's Made' that is considered non-violent is the one about the button factory.
See, I could handle that. How It's Made is a fantastically informative show and Whose Line is It Anyway? is hilarious.

Maybe if we just push the second show as much as we can, we'll finally get the show to return to the airwaves at last, assuming Wayne Brady, Drew Carrey, Colin Mochrie and various others will be willing to come back.

Gotta love the 'get out of homework' card irony. Because we all know an entertainment medium poses WAAAY more of a problem for our nation's youth than, say, poor education, right?

Priorities. Well done.
