Wow, American culture is weird... If this stuff was happening in the UK all we would get is like a few stiffly worded letters to the Local Council and/or MP and maybe the one peaceful demonstration. Then again there haven't been many shootings in the UK, I'm sure there was one or two school shootings which is tragic but the lack of any guns anywhere does tend to lower the rate of shootings in a country's crime statistics.

That asshole from Newtown (I'm not even gonna mention his name cause he doesn't deserve it) got the guns from his mom's home, because they weren't properly locked up. That is where the argument should begin and end. Better gun controls, and better mental health checks on people who want to buy guns.

Oh, and better parenting skills. Why the FUCK should a 9 year old be able to play MW3, an M-rated game? The parents should be paying attention to their kids and what they are playing. Also, the cashiers at Best Buy, Wal-Mart, and wherever else you can buy video games should take notice, and if they see a parent and a young child getting this game, they should ask "Sir (or Madam), do you know that this is an M-rated game with mature content like blood?", and make sure that the parent understands what the fuck they are buying their kid.

I don't see an issue with that. Nothing works wonders on one's outlook like a Whose Line marathon. (Plus, I'm not sure its exactly 'non-violent'. Still a great show, though.)

On topic: the whole thing seems silly, but particularly the whole get out homework shindig. Because being ridiculously strict about video games is so much more important then the folks' educations, eh? Its a very reactionary response that seems to be quite common after these sorta tragedies, despite the fact they're usually misaimed.

In other news, the state of Massachusetts had decided to block all television programming that contains "violence of an extreme nature", leaving viewers to choose between reruns of 'How It's Made' and 'Whose Line Is It Anyway?'.

Unfortunately the only episode of 'How It's Made' that is considered non-violent is the one about the button factory.

See, I could handle that. How It's Made is a fantastically informative show and Whose Line is It Anyway? is hilarious.

Maybe if we just push the second show as much as we can, we'll finally get the show to return to the airwaves at last, assuming Wayne Brady, Drew Carrey, Colin Mochrie and various others will be willing to come back.
