Pay? PAY!? For things I enjoy? As if we'd do that.

On a serious note, what about series that are waiting to be licensed? And we can't read Japanese?

That's what the petition is about the idea is to change the policy so that these sites can host the *ahem* "offending" material if it is labeled as such, which it always has been.
Ahahahaha. You make me laugh. Petitioning Google indeed.
I don't know if this incedent is anything to go by enough people yelling at the and they fold like a deck chair

man, i remember when this time (or around aboutsish) there was that rapelay scandal. i personally think that the idea of rapelay was rather disgusting, thus i never played it. and at the time i had no strong feelings about it being banned. but now i think about it, that was pretty much the turning point for japanese "eroge" since then there has been a massive banning spree and its getting to the point now of being stupid. if someone finds something offensive, there is nothing stopping them from playing / watching / reading it.

the fact that you personally think something is wrong does not make it so. and i take exception to "minori works" telling me that i cant read their VNs for "my own good" i certainly hope that NNL do in fact release EF a fairy tale of the two, i have been waiting years to read that and ill be dambed if minori are going to stop me by trying to be my nanny.

I would if any place around here actually sold the type of manga I'm looking for.

Seriously, I can't find any manga outside of Vampire Knight and Death Note in this town.

If you look in the comments section the author of the article flat out says that he reads and enjoys Kodomo no Jikan which leads me and a number of mangafox users to belive he's simply doing this to piss people off hence my troll comment.
He does???

*reads again*

That hypocritical piece of shit...

Well his attempts at trying to piss people off is working.

Learn Japanese or keep waiting.

Nowhere sells it round here besides a number of the series I mentioned either just don't get translated or got badly censored/cancelled,
not to metion he uses scantlators anyway.
Order it from somewhere that does sell it or import it.
You're practically pirates reading it for free. You're not paying for something you should be paying for.

Practically nothing!
I'm fully aware what I'm doing is technically illegal but some Manga/Anime simply never get translated due to not being mainstream enough or being too Japanese (fun fact The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzamiya only got an official translation because of how popular the fan sub was)

most good anime are in the "mature" section- stuff like trigun, hellsing, soul eater, full metal alchemist, etc.
so they're getting rid of everything that was ever worth reading.

fuck you paranoid politicians!

So what? Mother 3 never got an official translation and people use that as a reason to pirate it, it's still pirating and still illegal there's no getting around that. If you want to read it that bad learn Japanese and import it like I do. It's not that hard to do. If more people did that you wouldn't have to care about waiting for an official translation or a fan translation.

I support this man, granted I'm against anything that boarders hentai, but in some manga, a little boobage every 10 chapters or so spices things up or is very plot relevant (female characters get into crazy shit, and sometimes cloths shouldn't magically appear on them when people walk in. AND LORD FUCKING KNOW IF THEY START CENSORING MY GORE I'M GONNA MAKE A GORE MANGA OUT OF THEIR PRODUCTION TEAM. *calms down a bit* Sorry I flew off the handle there, but yes, my violent gore manga is about all that's keeping me from killing everyone within a 1/2 mile radius of me.

Quite simply put I'm not all that good with languages I have in fact tried to learn Japanese but I kinda suck at it I know "good morning" "thank you" and a number of other disjointed words but even then that's only saying it I wouldn't know where to start with reading Hiranga let alone Kanji and I've been trying to learn since I was fifteen I just don't think it's happening.

A little bit of google, a little the advertisers that use google and a little bit those that host the manga hosting sites

Interestingly enough, those bannings on rapelay only did the publishers a favour as they had no other way to combat the piracy that was driving them into the ground in the foreign market (at the time almost all of their revenue was coming from merchandise sales).

-Manga, like anime is often sold at a loss or near loss to the original publisher and relies on merchandise sales to create a real profit.
-Buying translated manga is the same as supporting the often terrible jobs that translators do to the source material.

That said, I'd buy it if they sold it and will when it becomes available.

I signed. Child Pornography is bad but I don't think it counts when the under-18's are fictional. For all we know this is the kind of thing keeping potential pedophiles pacified so they don't act on that urge that tells them to offer children candy.

If they are allowed to start there they could go much farther and I swear if anything happens to my harem anime I might have to go on a spree of some sort...or just draw my own and be pissed by my lack of manga-drawing ability

EDIT:

I can't say exactly what has been taken down but most anything with a mature label a few series I know for certain have been taken down are:
Kodomo no Jikan
Dance in the Vampire Bund
Sekirei
Futari no Ecchi
Freezing
Wolf Guy - Wolfen Crest
Onomori Himari
Onihime VS
Princess Resurrection
Yume de Aetara
Umi no Misaki
Saikano
Elfen Lied
And any number of others that I don't know by name

Elfen Lied features young women naked but, it isn't hentai. This goes to show the ignorance behind the removal of some of these pieces.

Sadly you are in one of those tough luck situations, not knowing the language is still no excuse for piracy.

At best I put money away for it's eventual release if it's good enough (I should explain that Mx0, one of the better school setting manga was cancelled without a conclusion and will never get released over here. so it's a safe bet).

You can learn hiragana and katakana in 3 under hours, kanji's a lot (I mean a lot) harder without a teacher or partner to practise with but there are sites available that can teach you enough japanese to read manga in under a year (just incase you were really interested in learning it).

I have to give that article one thing: I didn't know there was going to be a Dance in the Vampire Bund anime. So going to check that out. However, the main character in that is not prepubescent. She's over a hundred years old and just has a small body. I deem his complete arguement invalid.

I never said it was an excuse simply a reason.
I would like to say though that this thread isn't actually about Piracy as much as censorship if all of the affected manga had been taken down because the legal owners had requested it being taken down though I would be upset that I couldn't get my fix anymore I wouldn't be nearly as angry as I am.
If this was actually about piracy I wouldn't have an argument but because it's about content that people find inappropriate it's an issue of censorship
and I find censorship for whatever reason deplorable.

OT: I would like to thank anyone who has signed the petition so far and anyone that signs the petition later on I just hope that it has some effect.

I really don't understand why those certain manga/anime series' are illegal. It doesn't promote child abuse and no children are harmed.
They aren't illegal. The day they become illegal is the day I punch those people in the face.

I think KalineKitten already said everything that is to say:

This article has upset and hurt a lot of people: http://l7world.com/2010/04/google-sponsors-child-pornography.html

This guy is trying to get all adult anime/manga banned from the internet. He wrote this article with the intent of having google and all the companies that advertise on google take down the ads from the sites that host anime and manga, unless they remove all of the adult content from their sites. Not just the underage stuff. Read carefully. They?re removing ALL of it.

There are so many reasons why this is wrong. Anime and manga are one of the few things that bring joy into my life. I do not see how it is right to just remove all these things all because of one article written by some half-wit who doesn?t even know the law. If Google would just change their TOS this would not happen. They should allow ads to be run on a site that has adult content, as long as that content is marked as adult.

There are many reasons why this is wrong. First of all, Shota and Loli con are NOT child porn. It?s part of the Japanese culture. But ALL adult material on these sites does not contain underage characters. So to have them remove ALL material marked adult makes no sense, if your only target is indeed ?child porn? as he claims. Some adult manga and anime are not even pornographic.

Rather than having the sites remove all that content? Why not simply ask them to move all of it to a special section for adults only? Would it really be that much trouble? To just have it put into a separate site?

People should learn a lesson from this, really. Parents should take responsibility for what their children are exposed to, rather than expect the world to do it for them. As a parent, I do know what I am talking about. Personally, I have a 3 year old son. I don?t want him being exposed to this kind of thing either. But I think that?s why we have a parental block on the computer and the television. It?s there to be used, so people should use it. If you have a problem with the site that your kids go on, then don?t let them go on it. Don?t get angry and blame the site for it. That?s just senseless witch-burning for no reason.

And I would urge anyone and everyone who cares about the state of freedom in our world (whether you like anime/manga or not) to sign it. Because if we let them win this time, next time it maybe be something else you care about. With more and more rights being taken away every day, the world is becoming a place I don?t even want to live in anymore. We cannot afford to let them take away our freedom of expression.

I am personally going to send a letter to each and every place the writer of the first article sent one. And I?m going to argue my point, as a fan of anime and manga, and as a mother, and see what they have to say to me about it.

I am NOT going to read any more anime or manga from the sites that remove the adult ones. And I know it?s not going to be easy, but I STRONGLY encourage everyone else to do so as well. This is the only way it will stop. In addition, I am no longer using google as a search engine. I?m not going to buy products from any of the companies that have a hand in this. No one should. They are violating our freedom of speech and expression.

It has to be stopped before this gets out of hand. It stops? with you. Each of us can and will make a difference. The tyranny has to end.

That being said, this petition is to STOP the removal of anime and manga from websites on the grounds that doing so violates our freedom of expression. Also, to get Google and it?s advertisers to allow it within their TOS, if they will put such content in a separate section on the site, marked for adults only.

Thank you for taking the time to read this.

I would also like to add that there is a CLEAR difference between something that is drawn, and something that is acted out.

Yaoi and adult content of this type (including shota and loli) are NOT illegal. I've checked this again and again. It is not. The only reason they are doing this is because the sponsor companies don't want to tarnish their 'oh-so-perfect' reputation.

People write and talk about things that are illegal all the time, though. They don't get put in jail. Because if they did, every single person on the planet would have to be arrested.

Even if the act of doing these things is illegal... Writing and talking about them is not. All they are doing is stripping us of our basic human rights. And that is a lot worse than any lolicon or shotacon you are going to come across.

I signed the petition ^_^
