Well, yeah! I mean it sounds like what you're asking for is if the game had some RPG role playing elements like moral choice or or anything to do with making choices. Well, MP3 is a bit old school and has none of that. It's just a straight up 3rd person shooter.

Personally, I thought it was the best 3rd person shooter I had ever played. It got rid of the whole necessity of shooting behind cover (even though it's still available) and allowed me to run and gun.

So it's all about what you want from the game.

As for the cut-scenes...? Well, okay! They do suck. But the developers felt like the story was THAT important so what can you do?

:p
No.
I mean i do love my rpgs and don't have a problem with rpg elements in other games, but i don't need them in my shooters.
I meant something else, when i said i don't feel like i control max myself.
It's really just about the cutscenes and most of them are not even about the story.
In the previous max payne games there were small cutscenes at the beginning of the mission and sometimes very small cutscenes when max spoke out a thought of his but otherwise you had the full control of him the whole time.
Now I have a 10 minute cutscene at the start, play the game and shoot some guys, then another cutscene were max opens a door or jumps over ledge, then i can shoot another five guys, and then again a cutscene.
I don't control him, i am just there to shoot the guys and then have to watch again.

People seem to be a bit ungrateful, yes there are a lot of cutscenes in the game but the whole point is that a fairly large chunk of them mask loading screens. Do you want a game as pretty as Max Payne 3 to be full of loading screens and then still shove cutscenes at you ontop of those loading screens to get that story in somehow?
I want to able to skip the cutscenes. Simple.

Whoever handled the loading in this game did a piss poor job, seeing as every new area takes a good 5 minutes to load. And when I wanna skip the narrative to just get to the shooting, which I assume most people do especially during the second playthrough, than I'm shit out of luck.

I find it hard to understand that great looking games like Uncharted can mask their loading with cutscenes and still give you the oppertunity to skip them, while with Max Payne 3 the cutscenes are already practically over by the time you finally can skip them. And each of these cutscenes is atleast 6 minutes long.

And Max Payne 3 is filled with loading screens, except they're all at the main menu. It even has loading screens for the loading screens.

Not being able to skip a cut scene is a game design sin. If you want to justify your statement with actual technical reasoning then go ahead.
