Max Payne 3 Gets Some Local Justice

The first DLC pack for Max Payne 3 will arrive on consoles (but not PCs) next week.

Remember how Max Payne cradled a dying Mona Sax as the bullet in her head finally came to the end of its slow-motion journey? Or how the depth and desperation of his loneliness came to light in recordings of half-drunken calls to phone sex lines? Or the wonderfully dark, casual relationship between Max and Russian mobster Vladimir Lem, which reached its sad conclusion with one of the most poignantly memorable lines ever uttered in a videogame?

Treasure those memories if you do, because the upcoming Local Justice DLC for Max Payne 3 [http://www.amazon.com/Max-Payne-3-Xbox-360/dp/B0022TNO7S/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1340831906&sr=8-1&keywords=Max+Payne+3] forgoes all that in favor of straight-ahead, guns-blazing multiplayer action. Coming next week for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, the DLC pack will feature the "55th Battalion HQ," "Imperial Palace" and "Departure Lounge" multiplayer maps, the Light Fingers item for faster looting, the always-classy M4 Assault Rifle weapon with various attachment, and a new multiplayer faction, the Sao Paulo Police. New trophies, achievements and Rockstar Social Club accomplishments are also up for grabs.

The Local Justice DLC pack comes out on July 3 for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, and will be available during its launch week for 480 Microsoft points on the Xbox 360 or $5.99 on the PlayStation 3 and PC, after which it will go up to its regular price of 640 Microsoft points or $7.99. Holders of the Max Payne 3 Rockstar Pass, which goes for 2400 Microsoft points or $29.99, can get it free.

On the same day, Rockstar will also release all the pre-order and retail DLC for the game, including the "Cemetery" multiplayer map, the Silent Killer loadout pack, the Pill Bottle item, the Deadly Force Burst and the Classic Max character. The PC version of all of the above will be released on July 17.

Not too bad a haul considering the price, I'd say. I've had a lot of fun with the multiplayer. Rockstar will need to release a lot more DLC to make the Rockstar Pass worth it though.

I had a dream about a Max Payne sequel that was just as stylish as the previous games.
It was dead.
But it was all right.

Awesome first paragraph - as I'm reading it I'm getting psyched for a flashback DLC about Max and Mona - and then, BAM!, deathmatch maps

I liked the first paragraph. Though if anything it's even more relevant to the full game.

"It was like Bagdad with g-strings" isn't quite as emotional. I'm still bitter about what they did to the feel of the series.

The first paragraph really makes me want to play the first two games all over again, tho I´ve already doen that several times. Still, wonderful games, those two. Still haven`t gotten around trying out the third one, but it`s on my to-do list, that`s for sure.

Also, seems like an okay price for DLC. Then again, I`m not an expert on DLC prices...
