The music makes it feel like they've slapped it on to say, "look, it really is Max Payne!", but that doesn't work (at all) with the sunny setting. Neither does the voice over.
And my favourite thing about Max Payne was the feel of the late 90s setting - it felt like I was playing through Se7en. This doesn't have that (I know it flashes back sometimes, but that's not enough).
