Well now I am a HUGE fan of the Max Payne series, having finished the earlier games a monumental amount of times! With the release of the newest one I am very excited and wish to purchase it on PC but I am not certain if my PC can handle it. I have checked out all the specs and everything is fine except for my CPU which is Intel dual core 2.13Ghz whereas the recommended is 2.4GHz. Having the dual core do you reckon I will be able to run it?
Thanks a lot people!

Also for discussion value: can YOUR PC run it? Also, if you already have the game on a console, what do you think of it?

Been a while since I played MP2 but it was great fun. I need to sort out this sound bug for the first game though.
I doubt it'll be a day one purchase for me since I prefer a bit more time/money than a TPS will probably provide, but when I do pick it up I think I'll enjoy it.

If you can overclock your cpu to hit 2.5GHz but I doubt the .27GHz will make much of a difference. You might have some frame chugging here and there but should still be able to play it.

Mine can easily run it on full max settings and in stereoscopic 3D while maintaining very respectable fps.

I finished the second one yesterday and was thoroughly enjoying myself even though the dream sequences gave me one awful headache.

I had played and beaten the first on PS2 a few years ago and had a blast with it.

And yes, I can run it. Won't get it though. I've watched footage and it looks very meh. Doesn't have the same feel as the other MP games.

I watched the first two parts of a walkthrough. My god is max trying to be edgy. He hates rich people and loud club music, liquor has replaced water in his diet, and the camera flickers and has random flashes of color, which indicates that either the camera is broken, or max takes a bunch of hallucinogens in between scenes. And really for all the hype, it's just another cover based shooter, but with a slow motion mechanic.

I think max is sort of a reverse batman. Batman uses every gadget except guns, max payne uses guns with absolutely no gadgets. Batman is rich, max payne hates the rich. Batman is dry, max payne drinks more than 6 frats on a football weekend. Batman captures criminals non-lethally, max payne just shoots them all dead.

So all in all, I think i'll pass.

Your rig can run it on max settings.I'm sorry I just had to yes I am a child.

My PC passes the minimum requirements, those recommended requirements seem really high. I'll probably just buy it for Xbox instead of PC.

Ah shouldn't be too bad then thanks! Any chance you could tell me how to overclock my CPU? I have looked on the internet and apparently some ways can be quite risky...any ideas?

Again, thanks for the info

If you're talking about the 6-core CPU they 'recommended', that's because some idiot at Rockstar thought that it'd be helpful to know what the maximum specs are - which is basically just listing the latest hardware available, and is completely useless.

Indeed, it is strange that a disaffected loner with a dead wife, kid, and lover isn't completely sober and has no threshold for fanciness.

OT: Eh, I should think you'll struggle. R* aren't known for their PC optimising abilities (because they don't have any) so you might want to wait for it to be released.

My laptop could probably run it quite well, but I bought it for PS3. I'm enjoying Max Payne 3. Max is still Max, the combat and visuals are great, the story runs well (now at chapter 5). What really surprised me was the soundtrack. It's not very often that I start paying attention to music this early in a game, but I really like it. And it's a lot harder than the last Max Payne. Cover is often a must.

I am playing it now and I love it. Early GOTY for me.

What I love is that it is actually challenging and requires finesse.

Played a couple of hours on my housemate's 360.

Pleasantly surprised.

I just wish they'd give the cutscene flickering effect a rest. It quickly becomes something of an eyesore.

Also, Max's uber-cynacism feels decidedly forced. I realise that's a key part of his character, but it's getting to the point of self parody.

The cinematics become somewhat intrusive.

You really aren't allowed to do anything if it doesn't involve shooting dudes. Even something as simple as climbing a ladder is done through use of a cutscene. I know the Uncharted games were rather linear shoot 'm ups, but even those games had some variation in the gameplay.

Also the white aiming retacle is too small to see properly during bullet time, since everything goes black and white. And I have no idea what the constant flickering effects or dialoge pop-ups are supposed to add to the narrative, but it comes across as calling attention to itself in a smarmy way.

And Max's attitude doesn't come across as one of an old broken man, but one of a disgruntled teenager.

I played the first game long ago, and nothing much seems to have changed apart from the cover mechanic and the bullet cam. Shame.
