So i bought a ps2 a month a go and have been enjoying it quite a lot. I bought a ton of games including my new Favorite Shadow of the Colossus and today's subject Max Payne. I Didn't really have high hopes for this game due to my seeing the kick to the balls that was Max Payne the movie while it was still in theaters. Despite this i tried to go into Max Payne with a Open mind.

The Game follows, Who else, Max Payne. The game Begins with Max standing on top of a Skyscraper with a odd look on his face buts that beside the point. He has a flashback to 3 years ago to when he comes home, and because:

1. This game is done in a Film Noir Style
2. The game needs a reason for a cop to be shooting druggies while diving sideways in Slow-Mo

Some Junkies have entered his home and preceded to curbstomped his Infant child (What? it looks like that's what they did, its just kind of a lump on the ground.) He kills 2 of Junkies who have entered his house but before he can enter his Bedroom and Save his wife, BANG! a gunshot rings through the air and the door bursts open. Max shoots the last Junkie and enters his room to find his wife Murdered. And here Starts Max's journey for revenge though the games 3 sections: " The American Dream" "A cold day in hell" and " A bit closer to heaven"

The story is told through Stylized Comic book cut scene's that max Narrates over (Sometimes to my great annoyance.) and Ingame cutscenes. The Game does a good job of making us feel for bad for Max, which is good because it keeps us from questioning why I'm shooting the 50th identical (I think there's like 4 different models they copy and pasted throughout the game) druggie in the Face.Of course the story doesn't matter because you could easily skip every cut scene and not feel like you've gotten any less then someone who didn't because lets face it, were all here for the Gameplay.

As i previously stated, max is supposed to be a Film Noir cop, and with this comes narration.
This for me was the worst part of Max Payne. MAX NEVER SHUTS UP. I understand that he is completely heartbroken that his wife and child died, but it seriously seems like this is the kind of guy that goes home and types emo things on Myspace while cutting them selves at night.

And now we have arrived at why i love this game. I know I've made it sound like up to this point that i didn't enjoy my time with the emo cop but you'd be mistaken. Its some of the best fun I've had in a game for a long time. This is the Game that invented Bullet time and it still arguably did it best. It seriously makes you feel like your in a John Woo movie. diving through a doorway it a room full of four guys and taking them taking them out with your Dual Barretta's before you hit the floor never got old for me. Speaking of dual Barretta's, i should probably talk about the variety of guns at your disposal. You have about 2 types of each gun ranging from Pump action Shotguns to army grade Machine guns.

Overall i loved this game despite its narrative flop, and would suggest that anyone who owns a Ps2 or xbox to pick it up. Is also available on Xbox live for I believe $15.

**Note: First review I've written that wasn't more then a few lines, sorry if it isn't fantastic ^^**
