Having recently seen the trailers it doesn't look as bad as I thought it might be, it's still just a trailer so only time will tell.

As one of my favourite gaming franchises with which I have had much fun and many playthroughs, it doesn't feel right to make a film from such a great story which has already been told(I'm sure many can agree with the amount of game to movie translations these days).

I have not had high expectations since I heard the project was in production and don't know how much involvement Remedy(developers of the games) have had in the process, but I can predict it was minimal. But I do hope it is a great movie and focuses on the gritty themes of the games such as revenge, drug abuse, sinister conspiring corporations and of course a broken man struggling to come to terms with having growing feelings for another woman after his families death.

But many of us have seen Doom, Resident Evil and all those other terrible movies so I find it hard to have hope in any game/movie project in the works (oh why Bioshock, why!).

What do you guys think?

The trailer was really quite visually stunning. But the problem with most game movies is not the looks but the meat on the bones.

And developers / publishers should keep their greasy hands off the movies, they make video games, not movies, the genres are not easily intermingled.

Right now I think it is in theatre worthy, but only a one time visit. I put on the same level as the Silent Hill Movie, which was not horrible by any means, it just wasn't at all great.

I am looking forward to being proven wrong.

It looks pretty good. I can see it being one of those intelligent films that makes you think about death etc(much in the same vein TDK portrays "good" and "bad").
I loved the music to that trailer, I want it lol. And I agree with some of the comments(which of many weren't useful, but then again its youtube so what can you do)that the guy they got to play Max Payne doesn't look like him, that guy looks familiar to me though, can't put a finger on his name right now.

I haven't seen any game to movie films so I can't comment on whether this will turn out like what other people say it will but I think it could turn out to be something good. My interest has piqued from watching the trailer so I look forward to watching it when it finally arrives at the cinema:)

This isn't mean to sound like an insult, I love the Max Payne games. But...the second one in particular had a mild case of "I wish I were a movie". It wasn't a deal breaker (it never is) but it was definitely a game I played for the cutscenes. Given that, making it into a movie seems like an obvious choice to me. Definitely gonna drag myself to the movie theater for it.

Well even if it goes tits up it might be directed beautifully and visually stylish with gorgeous camera work and good Bullet Time. Still I shall pay to see it at the cinema where it can be enjoyed the most.

well from the trailer it looks good but i hope it doesn't go the way doom did and fail because i liked the Max Payne games and it will give the game a bad name for people that haven't played them if the movie sucks. so i will go to the movies and see it until then all i can do is hope that it will be good

After watching the trailer, it actually looks like a movie that may actually be faithful to the game for once (I'm looking at you, Doom!). From what I can remember about the game, which admittedly isn't much, the trailer seemed to capture the overall grittiness and film noir of the game.

Here's to hoping that this isn't a flop like all the others.

Oh, and WlknCntrdiction, the guy playing Max Payne is Mark Walberg, which I honestly can't decide whether or not that's a good or bad choice.

Uh oh 0.o
I haven't watched his last film "The Happening" but apparently he was the main weak link in that, doesn't bode well for this, but then again they might be going for the moody, pissed off, silent giant type character so maybe they might be onto something, we can only hope/pray.
