Where the hell did the whole "Pirates and ninja's are enemies" thing start? I mean until I read Fog Juice(or was it Articulate Jim...I dunno) I had never even heard of this seemingly legendary rivalry.

It's been going on for millions of years. Personally, I'm for the Vikings. They're a ninja/pirate hybrid; appearing in the night out of a fog to raid and plunder, then disappearing just as they had come.
