As far as I'm aware, mcafee is pay per computer, not per account, so I don't think there is any way.

This is just from memory though, so don't take it as law.

don't renew:
just get AVG free and spybot Search & destroy.
both cost $0, and together provide enough protection

that's just me and what i do

If you havnt tried reinstalling it then do so. It could also be that you have an outdated or corrupt install file since it sounds like a memory leak.

Ditto.

Mcafee is the worst antivirus out there by a considerable margin. You would be better of with windows firewall.

Spacewolf - if you don't understand antivirus etc post back and we can help you protect your computer, for free.

Just to perform a slight hijack of this thread:

If I were to decide to pay for antivirus, would Sophos be a good choice?

Ditch McAffee, get MSE. I have found it to be one of the best, and it is resource friendly.

I think I can explain m8 as I was in your seat once, Mcaffee sells u roginally multi computer accounts so lets say 3 downloads so for £60 you cover 3 pcs for a year, its partly a sales plan and all anti-virus companies that you pay for do it so that when that times runs out you have to pay per computer as most people cant be asked to go to the store and buy a multi pack again and thus they make a projet. If you wish to buy anti-viral software for your computer do so via the internet - per computer, or go to the shop and buy a multi pack as you can buy a pack for 3 comps, youve renewed one pc already so you use one of the 3 on the multipack for the other on now and next time you need to renew use the other 2.

-O and get Nortan Antivirus their 2010 version is infinitely more user friendly and no longer is the bane of Pc's

Any more questions plz dont hesitate to ask

The antivirus companies created the link plan in 2009, whereby they 'share' their information on an annul basis, that is the big 4 payment antiviral companies such as mcafee and Nortan , so that their protection was greater what you pay for now is actually the single years worth of discoveries that that specific company deals in so lets say this year mcafee finds virus 767632 and the others don't then your mcafee is safe and then at the end of the year
(this year will be the first time its done I believe) then so will the others. My advice is to get a demo of each antivirus and see which you like best as some are more customisable to certain features e.g. nortan is best for gaming and horrible for business networking, macafee is at home in webbrowing and networking but folds like a pack of cards in any high cpu situation.

Hope that helps - any further questions please ask

Also I belive sophos is one of those companies within the link scheme and I have a friend who says its simple to use I use nortan in combo with tweakvista by stardock which allows u to basically boost or customise your computer and its security and more very useful - high recommend buying the £20 stardock package even just for the little bits of customisation.
