So, as I was on the way to school this morning I picked up the free transit newspaper and found this article: [link]http://vancouver.24hrs.ca/PDF/2007/10/10/daily1019web.pdf[/link] (On page 6)

McDonald?s, whose Golden Arches emblem is identified as an American cultural symbol, will offer a new ?McWedding? service for couples in Hong Kong next year, local media reported. McDonald?s will offer ?McWeddings? at three restaurants in Hong Kong, and will also host anniversary events, according to the Chinese-language OrientalDaily. ?Traditional weddings use cherries for the newlyweds to eat together and kiss. We will have French fries for them to kiss,? the English-language newspaper South China Morning Post quoted Helen Cheung at McDonald's as saying. ?People said they?d dated here (McDonald?s restaurants), or met here, and wanted to get married here ...We see this as a business chance,? said Cheung, McDonald's director of corporate communications and relations in Hong Kong. McDonald?s started to accept
reservation lastweek, OrientalDaily reported, adding at least one Hong Kong couple planned to take the chance as they often dated at McDonald's before theywere engaged recently. No price tag is mentioned in local media reports for the new?McWedding? service. The traditional big Chinese wedding plan has become a growing burden for many young Hong Kongers.?REUTERS
(Sorry about the weird symbols, I quoted directly from the article.)

Anyway, I can't think of any parallel universe where I would like to be married in a McDonalds. What are your thoughts on this? Outrageous or a great economical way to get married?

My faith in humanity has reached a point where I'm not surprised that this service not only exists but there might actually be someone who wants to use it.

I'm so far away from ever getting married for a wedding to feel outrageous anyway, but at McDonalds? They'd probably get our wedding plans as wrong as they get my order on occasion =/

EDIT: I see you had your wife's wedding dress biggie sized to fit her better. ZINGER!

And yet, people have the nerve to claim that homosexuality taints marriage.

Honestly...

It's not surprising.........though I wonder why they couldn't get married in court and then celebrate at Mcdonald's.

I dunno, I like Carl's Jr better. :p

I thought they were smarter in China.

Why would anyone want to have their wedding in a McDonalds?

At least it would be cheaper than a normal wedding.
My thoughts exactly. My mentality is, "the less you spend on the wedding, the more you can spend on the important stuff."

"Well if you're that thrifty then why don't I make your coffin a matchbox... shame that even that would be too big for you after what I'm going to do to you "

And here I thought this was going to be a thread about the commercialization of weddings and how the average person is "brainwashed" into thinking about weddings in a particular way.

I don't know which topic I'm more saddened by: The thread's or the one I thought it was about.

I can think of far worse ways to get married. Although really the whole act of a wedding is like asking if you want yourself fed through the wood chipper head first or feet first.

Huh. Because that's so romantic. /sarcasm

Really, though, it's a stupid idea. But somehow, I don't feel surprised by it...odd.
