ME 3 EC: the breath scene.

I chose Destroy again, and I got very annoyed that everyone was acting as if I had died, and being all sad on Gilligan's Planet, but I still got the breath scene. Also, the added scene of the Normandy picking up my squad was a bit stupid (she was hovering there for a few minutes, why didn't any of the Reapers take a shot? And what happened to the whole 'no retreat' order?), but was so sad (I had my love interest with me).

I love how the DLC that was supposed to clarify things, didn't.

Totally agree on the multiplayer. That really pissed me off beyond words.

I also heard that that with original endings (before the DLC), that Liara took over the scene if you did not romance Kaidan or Ashley, even if you romanced somebody else (Like Garrus). I hated Liara with the fire of a thousand burning suns, so that deterred me from playing for a long while.

However, it seems, after watching the new DLC videos your romance option actually comes up now.

Long story short (since Im rambling), maybe Liara popping up was because it was originally the default character? Unsure. Regardless, I suppose it really was a bug then.

If they do do a ME 4... well, I got no idea what they'll be doing with it, seeing as the Reapers are dead, Shepard'll probably want a break and pretty much everything in the ME universe is wrapped up, so... *shrug*. As said, probably just a stinger, not really anything special. If it's a DLC thing (or sequel hook) it'd probably be a bit of a dick move though, seeing as it cuts out everyone who didn't pick destroy/high EMS rating.

Oh god, I hope not. The Mass Effect universe *could* work out as a decent MMO universe, but that would require making a whole heap of choices canon (Krogan healthy or sterilized? Geth alive or dead? So on, so forth...), finding another big bad guy to threaten everyone, change of game mechanics (Don't think the whole choice-thing would work well in an MMO). It'd be doable, and fun if done right - but I'm doubtful it would be done right.

Don't forget, everything is in ruins. Bad guys could possibly pirates or left over reaper geth and such.

If it went MMO (Which I kinda do) I'd want it more action based, take the Multiplayer from ME3 and implement it properly to be an MMO, no versus other people, but make it easily feel like a new game based on playthrough.

Hell, it'd be awesome to join up with different "programs" imagine that there were different ships based off of different squads, not factions but its kinda like having an entire guild in one ship.

I don't know what any of it means, but some are hoping for a reunion dlc because of that once scene, plus the name plate thing. But like someone else mentioned: that would discount anyone who chose synthesis, control, or refuse.

We all knew that today would see several ME 3 threads on the extended cut. But I went onto twitter to see Bioware's responses to peoples reactions, and someone asked about the breath scene in the destroy ending, and Bioware's response was this:

This is a bit tangential, but I really wanted to talk about it with out creating it's very own thread because it's not very big. This seems like the most appropriate thread to hijack air my grievance.

The name plate that they're about to put on the memorial wall (Or that ends up on the wall in all the other endings) says "Commander" Shepard.

I don't know about you, but my Shepard did have a first motherfucking name. It was Lilith.
Bioware releases an entire DLC package in a desperate attempt to win back lost fans by making the endings more personal to your Shepard and they can't even be bothered to make sure it's your Shepard's name on the fucking plaque at the end of the game? How hard is it to change one word of text in a cut scene? Did no one on the crew bother to learn what Shepard's first name was?

It's infuriating!

I've never liked the breath scene. It's just an irritating "or did they?" stinger.

If they wanted one of the endings to involve Shepard surviving they should have gone all out with it.

I saw it as a small sliver of hope for what would have been possibly the greatest twist ever done in video-game history.

OT: I wasn't expecting much from EC, so the gamer matrix was proved again.

Still tonnes of plot holes and etc, I'm wandering because I feel I need to justify myself... anyway

The breath scene I liked for several reasons, but they are all the reasons that everyone hates it. Basically I don't need everything spoon fed to me like it would seem so many others do. The issue with the original ending was that EVERYTHING was up in the air. Now the only question is what happens to Shepard, you know, Ignoring MASSIVE PLOT HOLES. (And we can thank molestia for all the arse that comes to mind when I hear the word plot).

Also the ending went on for a bit and I was downloading the SAC sound track, Flashback Memory Stick works with that scene.

But I'm with the guys that are like "You know you're talking about an EA subsidiary right? Dafaq you expect?" I did sorta expect that Bioware was immune to EAs corrupting influence

According to EA it was initially only Anderson/Joker/Ashley-Liara and Kaidan.

Now you get to see your Love interest, plus one of the characters you really bonded with. I got to see Thane, i didn't realize how much i misserd the scaly bastard up until then.....

Did we expect the EC to make any sense? I'm only interested in it to see how they try to make sense of their senseless conclusion. They have no basis to make things work in context. So of course there's gonna be stuff they're not even gonna bother to address because they couldn't possibly come up with an explanation for it that makes any more sense.

I will be surprised if there's any single player DLC. I get the feeling ME3 was intended to capitalize on the multiplayer. There's already been two DLC packs for multiplayer. The only single player DLC that exists is the shit that couldn't make it in prior to release.

Out of the numerous things that are wrong with the ending (and come on, what isn't?) one is how they're written to shoehorn the writers own take on things and never mind the players decisions. The biggest example of this is that it should have been up to players to determine whether Shepard lives or dies. Instead, they throw in that cliche "... or is he?" bit in the end... sloppy.

The two big answers I want addressed is:
What is the state of the galaxy? If the relays are gone, what does that mean for intergalactic travel? Are whole planets destroyed as a result of the relays exploding?

What's happened to the citadel? Is it destroyed? Did the reapers somehow kill everyone on board?

among others... yeah, I haven't seen the EC content yet...

As for future installments of Mass Effect. It would be right arrogant of BioArts to want to do an MMO, so that's more than likely to occur despite having already demonstrated they cannot make a financially successful MMO with The Old Republic.

For me, however, I couldn't care less. They ruined Mass Effect so it's over for me. I wouldn't play the next Mass Effect game any more than I'd play, or certainly purchase, another Bioware product ever again.

Kind of ambivalent here, but i'l say this. You do get to know what happened (Roughly) to the remaining planets when the relays go up. It seems Bioware actually listened to people about this part.

That and the part that allows you to shoot starkid in the face.

Well I guess they could pull the old Lazarus trick out again, but can't see how they could make a sequel that would incorporate all possible endings. A sequel would most likely take the destroy option as the mandatory ending for ME3 making everything else redundant.

I personally would like to see a prequel that takes place within a different galaxy cycle, which would allow the creation of new races and cultures, we would then follow their story as they discover the reapers, fight them and inevitably succumb. Whilst leaving clues for future cycles and improving the crucible.

I replayed it last night and Liara didn't put my name up, turns out the two scenes are linked and you can't get one without the other. I guess I was just being dumb the other day. I also found out they lowered the EMS you need to get the breath scene to 3,300 or something like that. You can get it without multiplayer now.

I think the new stories will be covered in the DLC. Remember that after the game ends, it leaves you before you go to the Cerberus HQ, so my guess is that this quest is considered a point of no return (makes sense since the Citadel disappears after that) and all single player DLC will happened before this point.

Of course, that doesn't mean there won't be a Mass Effect 4, but since most endings imply Shepard to be dead beyond repair its a safe bet to think it will be a new protagonist.
