If we join you in a session and get picked as The One, do we have to worry about you coming to our house in the night while we sleep?

Just a note about the questions, like the ones you mentioned in the italic section, they seem incredibly easy, or incredibly hard. now I say hard not because you'd have to have a PHD to know them but because they're either random or tricky. one was about a type of glass, the question was, "what it Plyrex(I'm making that up, but it was similar to that)?", not real context clues, and unless you've had experience with glass you probably weren't going to get that, I believe it got 40-50 members of the mob out.

some were just mind tricks, like, whats the 24 letter of the alphabet? it's "X" but the correct button was "A" so almost 3/4 of the mob got out because the designers didn't see fit to allow you to change your answer, which happens to be another problem.

not only that, I have a children's account so I can't win anything, although I do feel superior when I continuously beet the people they paired me with.

I dont like modenr pop culture questions. Someone mentioned The Big Lowbowsky or whatever its called. Everyone seems to know what this is but me.

On the other hand, i can do well on some obscure things. Not many people have actualy read DOn Quixote even if everyone knows about the character.
The Big Lebowski is a cult classic type movie. It really is a funny movie (IMO) and I love it, but I really can't see everyone loving it.

I look at it like The Princess Bride, probably my favorite movie. Some people just don't get that it is a comedy (mostly) and take it too seriously and don't like it. You have to watch the movie in a casual relaxed manner to really appreciate it.

The reason he says he is a quote master is because it is full of little one-liners that stuck with the fan base. "That rug really tied the room together did it not?" "Well that's just, like, your opinion man." "8-year-olds-dude."

The beta isn't out in Europe so I can't play but when it comes, I will be trying it out for sure. Hope they fix those bugs.

I hate that it's only on at night. I work 3rd shift, so I'm always asleep or at work when it's on. They need to have it at different times.

You're right. They do have some Extended Play sessions earlier in the day on weekends (or at least did this past weekend), but by and large, it's all at night, which is unfair to a lot of people.

If it does end up being random selection for The One and The Mob, I may get round to buying an Xbox 360. I love trivia stuff.

I may even play in my jammies as you suggested, Susan.

So.. you were excited that selection from the crowd is supposed to be non-random, but disappointed when you found out that non-random means that it's not.. uh.. random?
It's still supposed to be random, you're simply supposed to be able to increase your chances of getting chosen -- sort of like buying two lottery tickets instead of just one. The guy who only has one can still win, you just have a better chance than he does.

What appears to be happening, though, is that the same people are getting picked time and time again -- reusing their tickets, to continue the metaphor.

I made it into the Mob during the first weekend of the beta, but I haven't been chosen in any of the Live shows since. My accuracy is around yours, which does give me pause to wonder about the whole 'play more, increase your chances' spiel. Have you actually run into many competent players, Susan, or have you (like me) found most sessions a game show equivalent of the Street Figher IV 'oh look -- Ken again' phenomenon?

Oddly enough, I have yet to miss any soccer trivia (this whole Confederations Cup thing has me really excited), but I struggle with almost any question which contains '2009' in its text. I can usually eliminate one answer via common sense, though.

What I want to know is what magic mojo got Susan into the Jeopardy! contestant pool. I have tried several times over with no success, even when they have the gall to toss ballet, opera, and architecture questions at me in one session!

That was just straight up performance...and luck. You had to be lucky enough to be selected to take the quiz, but once you did, it was simply a matter of how well you scored. Above a certain number, and you were in. You did a mock game, they took your picture, and told you, in essence, to wait for the call. You stay in the pool for a year, then have to try and make it in again.

As a follow-up to the article, did you manage to get selected during tonight's show? I made the Mob for a second time, but I had the ill fortune to get chosen on the round the girl ran the table.

I did, however, know that Benjamin Franklin did not invent lightning. Oh, how the Vulcans would be laughing at us -- if, you know, they laughed.

My 'tag is "THE REAPER MECH", if anyone ever wants to pair up

After I saw there had been an update to the beta, I had hopes that I might get chose and I did -- twice. The first time, The One got disconnected on the first question. The second time, some kind of "bug" happened and they had to pick an entirely new One and Mob, so I didn't get to do anything at all.

I'm starting to think I'm cursed.

Contact the creators and tell them you're a games journalist, maybe they'll give you priority.

Now that you mention it, I remember something glitchy occurring the round I made it into the Mob. Please tell me I didn't take your spot . . . <TROMBONE STYLE="sad">

Sheesh -- I thought I was Murphy's whipping boy.
