Yes, I scanned every single planet before going through the Omega-4 relay. Completed every N7 mission too.

It came with a price though.
Cost : every crew member except Chakwas.
There is a way to prevent that, just make sure you've done everyting you wana do before you do the Reaper IFF mission.
Too bad I didn't know it then. I'll do a "perfect" playthrough before ME3 comes out.

I zoomed in on every planet but I only kept 25k minerals on hand (with the exception of the med-bay upgrade in which I went out of my way for more minerals)
Holy shit.
Didn't you know, that if you don't heal your face and go all renegade, you'll look like the Terminator?
Now that's just awesome. (just sayin', not judging you or anything)
I am well aware of that. I'm just a bit of a completionist. I'll buy the upgrade but no way in hell I'll use it when I go renegade. Rather disappointed that Bioware didn't do anything for going the paragon route besides clearing up your scars.
Yeah, I kinda wished that if you went renegade, your scars would be heal, but your eyes would be glowing blue. Would make Paragon Shepard fun to play with.
You can edit in a blue glow, though it's not dependent on your Paragon points.

/Hell yeah PC version.

I only scan when I need resources for something.

However, I do visit every planet eventually to make sure I don't miss any Assignments. However, no point in scanning them, just enter orbit and see if there's a "Anomaly Detected" message from EDI. If not, move on.
Yes, I do this on my playthroughs. I never have a problem with resources.. at least never big enough for to to have to grind the planets, like a lot of people seem to be doing. I just go looking for anomalies/side quests, and after a few systems I get bored and just deplete a rich planet every now and again. That will restock all of my resources, and go hunt for anomalies again. Never had a problem with this routine.

I always get scared that if I don't scan all the planets, I will miss a side quests or something useful. So I just turn the volume low, play the Beatles on my iPod, and just spend 10 minutes blitzing the entire galaxy. Trust me, you can scan every single planet in 10 minutes, just keep an ear out for EDI, if no anomaly, move on.

Not really, I did maybe about 10 scanned planets in total. Then again, I was playing on easy.
