Very quick question about this particular Mass Effect 2 DLC, is it worth getting?

I'm just about to start my playing ME2 for the first time after finishing the first one yesterday and I'd love to get some input from anyone who has played through the DLC. It interests me mostly since my favourite companion in is Liara.

It's certainly a must buy for those who enjoyed Mass Effect 2, but don't buy it before you've finished the game. LotSB is designed to be played after the endgame.

EDIT: Instead, buy Kasumi and Overlord, since they're made to be played before the ending, also with Kasumi you get a super awesome SMG that's pretty much vital on the higher difficulties. Well worth the 5 ? both of them.

Ah, that's exactly the kind of answer I was looking for. I guess I'll focus on doing everything in later playthroughs.

Thank you, sir.

LotSB was cool. It and Overlord are definitely the two best pieces of DLC ME2 has.

Yeah, play it after the game's finished though or you'll be missing out.

Highly depends on the class you play, and I wouldn't really say it's necesary on hardcore dif yet. On insanity for some classes yes definitely.

Lair of the Shadow broker is in my humble the best ME2 DLC. And after you're done with it you can read all the files the shadow broker has, he's been keeping tabs on pretty much everybody. It's well worth the price.

Indeed. There's a lot of dialogue thrown around in SBroker that assumes you've already finished the main storyline.

I loved SBroker much more than Overlord; SBroker seemed much more fleshed out and progressed much more organically. Plus the boss battle actually feels like a boss battle. I won't spoil it, but the end of SBroker is a real treat.

P.S. I'm also digging your avatar.

Must buy. Not only is does it allow you to continue your romance with Liara, but it's got one of the coolest environments in the entire series, one of those places where you just want to stop and look around you for a while.

It's not as long as some people suggest, but it's still very much worth it.

As for the rest of the DLC, Kasumi is a nifty character, though her loyalty mission is pretty tiny (again, though, it's got a cool environment/view in one spot). The Overlord/flying thingy missions weren't that great, though you'll still want to do them as they fill out the world/story and just give you an excuse to play more ME2. Flying that thing kind of sucks.

Lair of the Shadow Broker is a must-have for ME2, unless you hate Liara.

And if you hate Liara, you're a heartless monster.

Okay... now I feel a strong desire to play through LotSB with one of my older Shepards. Thanks a lot. >_>

Like everyone says, Must have, excellent DLC, blah blah blah. I would like to add that, if you were romantically involved with Liara in Mass Effect, then Shadow Broker is CERTAINLY worth getting. Very much so.

The more you enjoyed Mass Effect 1 and 2, the more you'll like the DLC. But if you enjoyed Mass Effect 2 at all, it's deinitely worth the cost, not least of all for the various in-jokes that are sewn throughout it.

Kasumi is absolute gold. Great character, wonderful ambiance, and the story is very touching.

That one should be your priority.

I would definitely recommend it. My favorite ME2 DLC, not counting the free ones. It fits into the story fairly well, though it isn't at all essential to completing the game and understanding more about it. It is a good addon though, fun to the end and long enough for the size and price charged. However, I would recommend doing it after you finish ME2's main story, at least I felt that was the best way to do it. However, it does add some things in that would actually help you out gameplay-wise, so if you want some extra resources to fight the Collectors, you could easily do this DLC before the ending. Depends on your tastes really. They made the cut-scenes flow with your position in the game so what is said makes sense to what you have done.

So yes, I would get it.

I've now played 2 hours of Mass Effect 2 (for the record, I'm loving it so far), and I've come to wonder if there's any way to meet Liara again without the DLC?

If you could tell me, without spoiling anything, I'd be very grateful.

Yes there is, you can't miss it. Although it isn't massively substantial.

Absolutely the best ME2 DLC yet, and some of the dialog is funny as hell!

-Middle of combat-
Liara: "Why are they attacking in waves? Wouldn't it be easier to attack all at once?"
Shepard: "PLEASE don't give them any ideas!"

Oh, and like others say, only get it after you complete the game. There's a lot of spoiler-ish documents and such you get during the DLC, along with tabs on everyone and their personal lives, including a few copied text chats with Miranda and random people on some date chat site, and her approach to flirting is just awfully funny, along with the reactions.

Hope you enjoy it!

Alright, goodie. Thanks for the info. I'll continue this my initial game and then go back and replay it with the DLC purchased.

Bother. Someone beat me to it. :) I would recommend you get the DLC before beating the game, but that's just me. I like to grab everything I can to get the most complete game on the first playthrough. Shadow Broker blends perfectly into the actual storyline. The only thing I suggest is that you do Liara's other quests first, otherwise it might seem out of context.

It's worth getting. It's fun and it gives you a lot more information on Liara and why she changed so much.
