Man, there seems to be such hate about the game endings. All I can say is, if you've ever read any science fiction books before you will not be surprised. Still think it could've been better though.

Besides that the journey is totally worth it.
The problem I have with the whole "it's all about the journey" thing is that, well, if I know that no matter what I do it will always have the same outcome (a shitty outcome at that) it kind of kills any drive for me to playthrough the story again. It would be hard to not have the nagging thought of, "none of this matters, the ending undoes all of this, etc." while playing it again.
Did you get all the war assets?
http://social.bioware.com/forum/Mass-Effect-3/Mass-Effect-3-General-Discussion-No-ME3-Spoilers-allowed/A-note-about-multiplayer-in-relation-to-the-quotperfect-endingquot-9665384-1.html

If you did, ignore my post.
Yeah, I got what is considered to be the "best ending". Not a whole lot better than the other two in my opinion.

I wanted to start a new thread about this seeing as how it's my first serious complaint about the game...but since the Captcha has apparently vanished despite the thread still requiring one to be posted, I evidently can't make a new topic.

Anyways, here's what I WAS going to post as my first true complaint about the game:

I really don't mind that the animations are buggy because all Bioware games have buggy animations, just like all Bethesda games have buggy everything. But so long as the bugs don't directly interfere with gameplay I can overlook such grievances.

Unfortunately, though, I've come across some bugs that do interfere with gameplay...specifically: bugged "gofor" quests that cannot be completed. Anyone who has played ME 3 likely has noticed that we get a return to the ME 1 style of wandering around the Citadel for 45 minutes, talking to various people and doing short, simple little "click the thing then come back and talk to me" quests. Well I've found at least two of these quests, possibly 3, that are bugged and cannot be completed (a friend of mine who's farther along than I was able to complete one of the two that I know for sure on my game are bugged, but the other one is bugged for him as well). For instance, when asked to go dig up some dirt on a diplomat, you're told to just go around and click some terminals. Easy enough, just wander around the Citadel clicking on stuff. First terminal: no problem. 2nd terminal: doesn't exist. As far as I can tell, they misplaced the big "( )" that indicates that you can interact with something. Well there's a door in the inaccessible background behind the terminal that DOES have the ( ) that says you can activate it...yet it's in the background/inaccessible portion of the area, as such would have no need for activation. So as I said: I'm guessing they misplaced the ( ) and put it on the background door rather than the terminal.

Then there's another one where I found some turret schematics out in the galaxy and got a quest "Go to the Citadel and find someone who can use them." Well having searched the Citadel top to bottom, that person either doesn't exist or he/she isn't equipped with a ( ) as they should be.

I'm not entirely pissed off about these quests, they are just gofor quests after all. But it's rather frustrating to think that after 3 and a half years of development they've got little bits of BS such as this. As much as I love the beauty and visuals of this game, wandering around for 45 minutes searching every nook and cranny of the Citadel for something that evidently doesn't exist is not a fun use of my time.

I had one quest bug and I had a cluster show as having an active quest when it had none (for the second half of my playthrough). I had more than enough Military Strength though so it wasn't that bad.

Is it really that bad/depressing? I don't want to know the specifics, but if I do everything perfectly I'd better get bloodly rewarded for it.

Yeah, I just finished the Tuchanka quests and my military strength bar is nearly 100% filled (I've played enough Multiplayer to get my galactic readiness up to 75% as of last night).

But still, these buggy little quests get on my nerves. Like you said: in the end it's not that big of a deal as it really won't impact me that much as far as being ready for the end of the game is concerned...but I'm obsessive-compulsive like that.

Oh, I'm also REALLY looking forward at my 2nd playthrough as my Renegade MaleShep...seems like the story will be pretty different than it is currently for my Paragon FemShep. Just like with the choice of "Kill Morinth or Samara", I've come across a few decisions that I'm REALLY going to have to FORCE myself to go Renegade on just to keep it pure Renegade...mainly because those choices are just flat out horribly cruel/traitorous.

PS: Well there's the Captcha...and apparently it's hungry for a Cheese Burger

The "good" ending is the best for the galaxy at large imo, but none of the endings are rewarding.

Read at your own risk...

If you romance Liara it is likely that she may have become pregnant though depending on your ending you are either dead or you are forever separated by hundreds, if not millions of light-years (its unclear). There is absolutely no real closure for any character beyond Shepard (if he dies).

Muwahaha!

I will say that, despite the last 5 minutes of the game sucking ass Liara's romance arc comes full circle and is probably the most convincing and heart-wrenching romances I have ever seen in a video game. They outdid themselves by LIGHTYEARS compared to the romances in the last two games.

The love scene and the final conversation you have with her are fucking awesome.

My friend's copy actually got delivered today, which I am soooo jealous about, especially as we both ordered it off of Amazon!

He said that if you an import a character that you have been using for ME1 and ME2, the face does not import! What the hell, Bioware? Surely thats one of the first things you should have checked, seeing as it is one of coolest things about the series, it being your own customised Shepard! Hoping there will be a patch for it by tomorrow...

Heart-WRENCHING?

Dunno if I like the sound of that. I am emotionally invested here, after all. Really I started mass effect as a bit of a fun romp in scifi land but the romantic sap part of my personality took over once I figured out that part of the game.

That's the point of an open ending, though. It leaves you to fill in the pieces for yourself.

I myself have had many dealings with open endings, and though I agree this could have been executed with more care and precision, it's not inherently bad.

I could have lived with a completely open ending with very little closure if your decisions throughout the three games mattered in the end. None of the issues you resolve throughout the games really matter in any of the endings aside from stopping the Reapers. Also, pulling deus ex god crap out of their asses at the last possible second is weak.

From what I've experienced so far, the Liara romance is indeed very well played out in this game. I'm really wondering how my Renegade MaleShep's relationship with Ashley will be...of course, he did cheat on her in ME 2 by screwing Miranda's brains out. :3

Thanks for this post. Gives me a little bit of a heads up so I won't be TOO disappointed.

Not sure how I feel about Andersons new "look".
Liara, judging from screenshots, looks fine to me. What don't you like?

Evidently people don't like that she (and all other Asari) are now more detailed than ever before, to the point that you can see individual little scales across their skin giving them a textured look rather than being smooth-skinned like humans.

I haven't read the entire thread for fear of spoilering myself, but I finally got the game installed last night and the first thing that struck me is that they've somehow managed to make the FemShep hair options even worse than they used to be.

Plus for some reason the game couldn't import the custom face from my previous Shepard, so (sad as this sounds) I had to try to reconstruct it from scratch based on ME2 screenshots I happened to have. I didn't do a very good job, and I partly blame the hair models that make it look like she's got a gigantic head.

Sure I'll get used to that though, so far I'm liking pretty much everything else. A lot of the early conversations felt a lot more "streamlined" than they used to, but some of the old feel is coming back as I get further into the game.

Long weekend coming up here, guess where I'll be spending pretty much all of it ;)
