What are your top 3 most meaningful moments in videogame history? They can be joyful, ironic, awesome...whatever.

Such moments often make you forgot, if only for a second, that you are playing a mere videogame. They can make you think about things you have never thought about or affect you emotionally. Perhaps, in the best case, they can even make you see things in a different light...or make you a better person.

I hope this thread will not immediately turn into the overdone "saddest moments in videogaming" thread with everyone and their dog lamenting the deaths of Aeris Gainsborough, Zack Fair and Big Boss. Admittedly though, sad moments are often the most meaningful ones.

My own three are prolly too obscure for most.

1. The ending of Planescape: Torment.
2. Keldorn's coda in Baldur's Gate 2.
3. The significance of the rabbit in To The Moon.

Most emotional moments, at any rate. First one made me tear up. 2nd one made me sniffle a little. Third one made me cry like a baby.

Um...

1. Well, my first choice is from FFVII.

I was brand new to RPGs, Cait Sith was my favourite character, and the music is heartbreaking. Oh, and "I can still move more!" gets to me every time.

(Of course the impact of the scene is almost completely nullified by the immediate and clumsy intro of Cait Sith 2, but still...)

2. Fallen Earth. Every so often I'll dump all my combat gear into my horse's inventory, switch to some casual clothes and just go for a ride. I've went entire days of play without earning a single xp and I find it very relaxing.

3...

I honestly don't think I could come up with a top three. There are a lot of really great moments out there in all the games I've played.

I guess for now I'll make mention of Mass Effect and Mass Effect 2, since I've been replaying them back-to-back over the past week to set up a continuing story for Mass Effect 3 (I had the first one on X-Box and the second on PC, so I picked up the first for PC during a recent Steam sale to do this).

The games just have a very epic cinematic feel to them. The staging of the game's setpieces and cutscenes combined with the awesome soundtrack work exceptionally well together.

1. Blowing up the death star in star wars trilogy arcade. That is the most satisfying feeling on this planet, I guarantee you.
2. I felt pretty sad in that sr2 cutscene where
your character has to kill off carlos because he's too damaged to be moved.
3. The feeling of freedom you get from playing on the portal playground map. The portal gun is a sheer joy to mess around with, plus the map gives you weighted storage cubes, a turret spawning button, and a material emancipation grill for you to throw boxes and turrets in, the turrets going "AYAYAYAYAAYYAYAYAAYA" as they vaporize. Practically infinite fun.
