Okay so I got the new Linkin Park CD today and my favorite song on it right now is When They Come for Me. They lyrics are basically saying that if you want us to sound the same as the first album we are never going to sound like that so STFU and quite whining.

Are there any songs that you know of that bands put out with a special meaning that the band wants out there that has to do with them and their fans?

One of my favourites is how this song is actually about child molestation and rape:

Doesn't sound like it, does it?

I Am The Walrus

It's totally about something, man. It's like about like the walrus is the working class, and the eggman is the capitalist machine. And like, the walrus koo-koo-katchoos the eggman to a lower level. It's like about the proletariat overcoming the higher classes, man.

Now that I'm done making fun of people who read too much into music, I will post something that I know has meaning: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BFIMOJ46ofk

It's about God, btw.

I Like Your Old Stuff Better Than Your New Stuff by Regurgitator.

I think everyone is missing the OP's point.

Johnny quest thinks we're sellout by less than jake.
No real hidden meaning, more the bands bemusements at a fans opinion. It seems a few people have missed the point of the OP.

This was actually a 'piss off and die' to the LA punk scene. Most of the scenesters had decided that Green Day were sell-outs, and they wrote this song in response.

Still, now it's used for graduations and shit. Kind of taken exactly the wrong way, but I still love this song.

Hidden Meaning: I love little girls.
Real Meaning: I love little girls.

Did I mention I love little girls?

Metal Warriors by Manowar...actually most songs by Manowar. They're all about gathering up your metal brothers and slaying in the name of METAL!

A good example is a band from the mid/late nineties called cable. They had a song (freeze the atlantic) which was featured on a sprite advert and which got them recongnised but seemed to destroy them at the same time.

The single for that song featured as its B-side The (we did the music for the sprite ad) Blues. Which was pretty funny and gave everyone a good idea of how the band felt about it.

One of my favorite songs, with such a great meaning.

"I am leaving, I am leaving, but the fighter still remains."
