Mechwarrior Online Accidental Beta Access

Woke up this morning to a lovely email telling me I'd been granted closed beta access to the new Mechwarrior Online game. Was very delighted, so went and got a cup of tea and figured I'd carry on reading my emails before downloading, only to find a second email saying the last email had been sent by accident.... but they were going to give me access anyway!

I seem to recall MWO not getting much love the last time it was mentioned around here, but did anyone else who signed up accidently get mailed an invite?

Ill probably have to leave my computer on to download the patches while at work.

EDIT: removed the image... pretty sure its safe under the NDA, but better to be safe than sorry!

Aye, its under NDA so we can't talk about in game stuff and what not. You need to agree to two massive documents saying you agree not to post in game screenshots or discuss content.

Ahh, was more about finding if any other Escapist had it so I could talk to them about it. Not had a chance to play yet as I had to leave it downloading to go to work, will be hoping on as soon as I get in though and be able to give a thumbs up or down accordingly.

Yeah, I got the same one, they even included a little joke at the start of the e mailing explaining the fuck up.

I haven't even started downloading the game yet, I feel kind of bad. I wasn't meant to be in it but I am by mistake.

For a closed beta, its pretty good. A few concerns over some points but I'd say we're looking at a return to the Mercenaries style play from my first few plays. Did have one really odd moment where I then suddenly up a into a but meh... thats beta for you I guess.

Quick cap non-nda breaking comment - if you're a fan of the series, its very likely you'll love this.

I'm pretty sure the NDA forbids you from admitting your in the beta.

Nah, checked through it. You can talk about that you're in it, but you're not allowed to start bringing up details, game facts info, screenshots etc.

Its legit! Its only open as long as it takes them to test something then it will close up again for awhile before they reopen in a few weeks time for another small period.
