They seem to to be paying close attention to World of Tanks class system where scouts have an advantage reaching objectives, while heavies, SPGs and tank destroyer are so slow that without scouts and mediums spotting targets they'd never find anything to hit.

Sounds like a good way to play to me, especially if tanks with jamming and LRM racks can get involved. Now just let me have my Clan Mechs...
Oh my this. SOOOOO much this. I'm hoping the Kit Fox/Uller and the Shadowcat make an appearance. I'm doubting it, but here's hoping.
Don't worry, they will eventually. Time will advance in real time in MWO, so when we finally hit the year of the Clan Invasion, we're gonna start seeing our Clan mechs

So....in half a century or so?

Sigh. I guess I can, in the very least, try to wait that long. But damn them if they don't keep adding content up until that point. The game better be as polished as a display diamond by then.

It would be really interesting to see the dynamic switch from powerful solo mechs to tactical groups more akin to naval fleets. Imagine a cluster of heavies plodding along with nimble little recon units ranging ahead and support mechs dealing with any close range ambushes and fixed positions.

The very idea gives me geek-bumps all over.
Now I don't feel quite as ashamed as I did that that very thought did the same thing to me.

Tactics in a shooting-esque game? MADNESS.

But in all honesty, this sounds like a really complex and diverse system, and it sounds like it'll encourage a lot of teamwork. This I like, tbh. With the evolution of games like Battlefield 3 that encourage cooperative play instead of "Let's take the sniper rifle and use it like a shotgun", it might help to inject some new life into the stagnating shooting genre and give us some nice and fresh takes on how these games could go.

Conversely, games like this will raise the bar high enough that people might stop making cash-in shooting titles and actually make, *gasp* titles that belong in OTHER genres.

Been waiting SOOOOOO long for a quality Mechwarrior Game. I pray this is it. Also, hoping they don't skimp on the number of chassis. I don't mind waiting if it means I get to run around in a Raven or Catapult.

I can totally wait that long. Any amount of time is worth waiting for my Dire Wolf.

Current MWO Date:January 7th 3039.

Clan Invasion:Late 39/by 40 they've gone full invasiony.

So most likely you'll be seeing clanner stuff by December but more likely by 2013 our time. I can't be bothered to look up months but you get the idea.

So make of that what you will. With this and the inclusion of a mech like the Catapult I have high hopes for this game.

So long as they playtest this thing properly, it seems to be a fantastic idea.

By playtesting properly, I mean preventing stuff like this from happening:

I have a superfast mech in MW3 'cos I took out a bunch of stuff, put in bigger engine, and have nothing but flamers. How do i win? Too much heat = mechs explode.

or

Enemies have problems detecting you when powered down. So, a weapon loadout that allows alpha striking in order to blow up a foe while simultaneously shutting down due to heat = win.

The stuff we can do with computers these days truly makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside, free to play mmo that offers information warfare in the form of deception and detection, be great to see what tricks people can come up with

It is free, encourages tactical combat and features giant robots?

I'm sold to at least try it.

Having grown up playing MW 2: Mercenaries, I can say with authority that I am SO EXCITED FOR THIS! Seriously though, I am pumped to crawl back into the cockpit and hear the familiar "All systems nominal..."

DO WANT.

OT: Here's hoping that its a well balanced game, I've always been a huge fan of these games, and I hope things work out well for the franchise.

Interesting. I for one would like to be piloting a mecha first-person.

"Details about a target are not inclusive, and is now layered based on the type of modules and BattleMech you are piloting," the team explained. "The concept helps emphasizes using specific Mech and Module combinations to gain and share enhanced targeting information."
I hope that doesn't mean if you use, say, a Jenner you require a specific set of modules to be effective. I like variety - not the one build does all of every MMO.

Close, but your numbers are a bit mixed up. Current date is January (9th now) 3049. The Clan invasion starts in August 3049, but only hits the Inner Sphere proper in March 3050. It's still not known if the Periphery states will be included in the playable area, but it seems unlikely we'll have Clan stuff available at launch, and with no release date set yet I think August would be rather optimistic for getting such significant new stuff added. So I'm going to go with 2013 as well, but possibly before March depending on how well the launch goes.
