People are dumb. The MoH forums are lit up with people tearing it down before its even launched globally. I just beat the campaign: its awesome. I have some time in multiplayer: crazy fun. (There are currently server issues as im posting this.) The only thing the game needs is more GUNS and it will be even better.

we are owed something. we're spending money on their games and movies and if they feel its ok to slap us with crap there's no reason to stand for it. quality over quantity.
OT: Reviews are crap. i only watch yahtzee for the entertainment value.
I would tend to agree. However specifically, I'm talking about nit-picking and bagging on anything and everything that comes out, regardless of whether or not you've actually played it or seen it.

Well, I think they're much better than CoD, but maybe that's just me. I guess they're just my personal "CoD Killer".
As it is for me as well. Can't stand the CoD multiplayer style. Campaign is good, though.

Review scores are pointless if a game is good just say you liked it, also how can a game like MW2 get 90 somethin but a game that has a good story, dialog and gameplay get 70 or 80.

IGN are just terrible when it come to reviews thats why i like the people on this website, they get reviews right.

You can't spell IGN without ignorance.
How the hell can someone get a review "right"? A review is a collection of one person's opinion on a game, and assuming you've had no contact with the game beforhand, how do you know how the game should be reviewed?

Seriously, people take a completely wrong route with reviews. You don't just look at one review and dictate that this game sucks/rules or that this particular reviewer sucks/is the only right one out of the bunch. You look at all the reviews put out, deduce the general thoughts of the game, and go from there. If every reviewer is saying that the graphics are amazing, but one or two says that it's complete shit, you don't have to take much consideration in that. If there are an equal amount of reviews saying that the controls can be wonky, then you should take that into account. If most reviewers say that the story is a POS, but one says that they were deeply moved, take that into consideration.

That's how reviews should be looked at. Not as separate entities of "right" and "wrong" opinions, but as a collection of thoughts from the general public.

OT: It's a shame for Medal of Honor, I was thinking about buying it to spite the controversy, but now I'm not so sure. I hope it does moderately well, though, I never wish ill on a developer.

Most of the reviews have said this:

The Single Player is outstanding. The Multiplayer is not.
To bad they're also saying the single player is incredibly short. We're talking MW2 short, around 5 hours.

Well I hope EA heard about this so that they double the Benjamins for those reviews...

I cannot feign surprise if Medal of Honor does poorly, and I'll be interested check now to confirm. For all intents and purposes, the new Medal of Honor is following the successful shift that Call of Duty took from WWII to a modern era. Other shooters have been following this theme ever since Modern Warfare, and the obscene overabundance is already wearing it thin. In fact, even Call of Duty is ditching the modern setting for Vietnam.

The devoted attention towards the "Taliban" multiplayer faction also raises some flags as it seems that next to no mention towards the actual game has really come up. Even the defense for the game has been a vague claim of "respect for the soldiers" in this Medal of Honor.

The rating system for games speaks as a whole for about everything "graded" in society. Mathematically, 5/10 is a true average, and yet no matter the circumstance, if something gets 50% on a movie review, a game review, a product review, or even a report card (grade review), the subject is practically deemed as a pants on head retarded, woebegone, abject failure drenched in liquid stupid.

Video game reviews are so biased it's horrible. If it's not a GTA, Halo or COD game then it automatically gets an 8 or lower... It's bullshit! I played the MOH beta and I kind of liked it. I would at least give it an 8.5-8.9

The style of game that MoH and CoD are do not go hand in hand with good multiplayer. Want a good multiplayer? Well, looks like you're going to have a crappy single player. Want a good single player? Better take a lot of content away from multiplayer!

Reviews are useless.
Which is strange since I really, really liked the beta. You actually had to use cover and so forth. As opposed to COD's sprint around and shoot mentality.

And if the sales were to bomb...all we would lose is a modernized, bullshit-realistic, first person shooter.

That might actually be a step in the right direction.
Wouldn't that be a shame. Dont get me wrong, i enjoy FPSs of these sorts but its just too much at the moment. What happened to the miricle of variety in gaming? oh yeah.. they started making a shit load of money! same old story

This man speaks the truth. Do not let the industry hacks (a.k.a. analysts) tell you otherwise.

Right i agree, i want people to say there opinions but all websites like IGN just go with the flow take for example Jeff Gerstmann who spoke his thoughts and got fired, its just plain silly that some people can't say a game like COD is shite. I like this website cos they speak there opinions and don't go with the flow.

The thing that astonishes me is that EA's stock price has fallen by six percent in just the last 24 hours and the unfortunate thing is that there will probably be more layoffs very soon and overall we will get less inovative games.

We do not need another franchise which copies Call Of Bloody Duty.

Heres hoping their worst fears come true.

This is why reviews shouldn't have scores. Scores are too subjective. People need to start actually reading reviews, taking the positives and negatives from that review and decide for themselves whether or not they want the game.
