This thread is based on something I saw. There is a term in comics known as "Women in Refridgerator Syndrome". Don't know what it means? It means a female character is killed for character devlopment for male characters. Y'know, vowing revenge or learning resposibility, ect. Why this name? Look it up.
I also saw a thing on a Youtube video describing "Dragonball Z Syndrome", lengthening completly unimportant parts to make the series longer. Also mentioned was "Inuyasha Syndrome", where nothing happens in the entire series.
Discussion: Create your own "syndrome" of something you notice happening a lot. This can apply for all forms of media.
My example:
"Kamehameha Syndrome". The not-so-gradual progression of the power of a certian technique, making a power that was small at the start will become a devastating mega-attack.
Examples: The namesake. When the move was first introduced, Goku could only break a little car with it. By the end of the series, he can blow up a planet.
Also: the Force. In Episode IV, it barely did anything, but by Force Unleashed, it was tearing Star Destroyers out of the sky.
