A Hermit's Cave
Good... morning...

I'm a TW fan, like a fair few others, and I've played days upon days (replace with 'weeks' for Rome and Napoleon) of every title in the series, with the exception of Medieval 2. And it is not for lack of love or desire, but for some reason, the cursor doesn't appear and only flashes intermittently when it's moved across the screen. This is tremendously annoying and means I cannot play the battles (which is an almost essential part of the enjoyment experience for me) on any difficulty except easy and there is much rage on the world map when I send armies/characters to the wrong place or via a dumb route.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with my computer, it runs plenty of games with far greater system requirements (i.e. Napoleon & Shogun 2, both of which run fine at maxed out settings). The game installs and runs fine but the damned cursor won't appear.

Note - I run dual monitor config, but it doesn't affect R:TW which ostensibly has the same engine and regardless of how much I mod it.

Tks...

Do you have pointer trails turned on in Windows? This thread [http://www.geekstogo.com/forum/topic/202604-medieval-2-total-war-blinking-cursor-problem/] and this [http://ca.answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20101220131815AAM7dFb] suggests that is the problem, or at least a problem. Another thread suggested that you need the latest Microsoft .NET framework...however, the TC there said it didn't help.

problem solved
Yup... works a treat now, thanks... and rather bizarrely the graphical... 'fuzziness' (very grainy appearance) has cleared up as well... *shrug*

Restoration of the HRE, here we come.

Oh, btw i've got a problem with Medieval Total War 2 where the name captions for my cities don't appear unless i hover my mouse over the city and instead the captions for all character pieces on the campaign map appear automatically- making the map appear cluttered. I've had this problem since installing Anno 1404, and have no idea how to get rid of it. Ideas?
