So, i wasnt really sure where this kind of threads should go, figured it has the most to do with gaming - so here we are.

I am currently in possession of a bunch of good quality steam keys.

EUIII key is already gone.

I have a bunch of DOTA2 keys. 13 to be precise.
They apparently cant be redeemed in china, so keep that in mind.

So like i already said, somebody mentioned to me the issue of making you email address public, i admit - i didnt think it through.

Exact same situation for me. I've still got a dozen keys and almost everyone on my friends list has the game already.

Also, speaking of Eu3, I gave away my free copy to a friend. We tried playing multiplayer but couldn't get it to work, if anyone happens to see this and can help it'd be appreciated

Bizarre, a game that costs is being given away for free by the truckload. You can see why I'm sceptical, no?

Maybe if you reach a certain playtime you get given one, because it's still in beta isn't it? I dunno. Doesn't make sense to my capitalist mind, yet my socialist conscience is loving it. Actually, that's nonsense, I'm just paranoid

If you don't mind, I have Dota 2, but my friend does not. I would love a key to give to him if you would please sir. As for your strategy game, I haven't heard of it, but I tend to like strategy games. I would save them though for people who are excited for it, if none arrive then let me know. I would play it, but as I said there are probably people who know of it and really want it, and they should come first.

Well, the game is f2p if iirc, but right now you can "buy" access to "beta". by "buying access to beta" you get a bunch of in game items, and idd - access to beta

Also, its steam we are talking about. They dont care much for the income, they care more for the free ad. You want to play dota, you need steam - and while you have steam, check out our games maybe?

tbh i have no idea why i have received so many keys, i expected maybe 2, 3 - but not 13

To your question I don't really know but steam seems to give them away like the damn plague could be that I signed up for the beta initially anyone given the game can tell me if this theory holds up but basically I just randomly recieve dota 2 would be surprised if anyone ever purchased the game and if so sucks to be them

It's beta but I think the keys give you the full version. And what valve does is get as many people as possible playing since Tf2 showed that you can Maurice money from micro-transactions(I already have two chests that I will need to buy a key for, just like Tf2). Maybe even giving it the 30$ price was just so people are more inclined to ask around for keys and valve intends to drop it fairly soon after release.

I don't find it that surprising. Even though DotA 2 early access is being sold, half of the 27 euro prize tag is accounted for by the ingame items you receive in the "early access bundle". Also, since DotA 2 is a free game (and will be still free to play after release) relying on microtransactions, they want a large enough playerbase so that their game can exponentially grow off of it. Once the playerbase reaches a certain threshold they are guaranteed the sufficient income to sustain the game and its growth (since f2p model can be fidgety you need enough players to make up for it) while all the players bring more people in.

Also, I do suspect that the beta status also has this "a special club" effect on people that encourages people to try it out when they get a key, since "not everybody can".
