[HEADING=2]Please keep a level head during discussions. If you feel like going off on a tirade, do so via PM to your favourite Escapist (or me ? whatever floats your boat)[/HEADING]
Watch the video first as well please.

This is Dick Masterson and as the video clearly shows, this guy?s a chauvinist extraordinaire. As you can see he?s had TV appearances, currently has a book on sale [http://www.amazon.com/Men-Are-Better-Than-Women/dp/1416953817/?tag=google0966-20] and a website [http://www.menarebetterthanwomen.com/], all dedicated to his belief that - well, that Men are Better than Women. I?m curious ? not whether people agree with him (although I have a sneaking suspicion that most people will say they don?t, oddly) ? as to whether or not people believe that his words and publications falls under the definition of hate speech, and to go deeper, whether they believe if he?s serious or not. He actually wrote a short post [http://www.menarebetterthanwomen.com/famq/is-this-hate-speech/] on his website about whether or not his stuff constitutes as ?Hate Speech? and...honestly I?m still not sure after reading it. Not a lawyer and all that, not even an internet lawlyer.

I assume most people at the Escapist a versed in what we call Trolls ? People who deliberately act in such a way as to generate emotional, often inflammatory, responses from others. Should we place Dick Masterson alongside the ranks of Bobby Kotick as an ?IRL Troll?? Or is this man actually serious ? Do you think he believes that all women are stupid, that they are all whores and that they are all incapable of doing anything at all without a man to tell them how to do it? Would anyone on this website actually seriously admit to agreeing with him?

Once again, please keep the discussion civil. It is possible to express yourself on this matter without devolving into ranting flames.

Edit: Huh. Poll didn't work. Oh well. I had a few options, but I'd hope people would distinguish their viewpoints in posts rather than poll choices anyway.

Jeremy Clarkson. Dreadfully popular, a complete chauvenist and still a hoot, even if you don't like him.

Trolls work IRL. That's why there's so much 'net hate towards them.

Teehee, Godwin's rule, he loses.

I haven't laughed so hard in years*, it's nice to know someone [i/]must[/i] be getting less "some" than I am.

*At how stupid he is....

I stopped at 1:30. Of course he's a troll. Unless if this is serious, then it's a problem.

Wow. What a douché. At least people like Jeremy Clarkson are funny when they say stuff like that.

I wonder if men are better than women at cooking his dinner, doing his ironing and cleaning his house?

Don't get me wrong, I'm a fan of the sexist jokes, but jeez, women have been equal for a long while now. I wasn't aware people like this guy still existed.

Hitler wasn't an asshole because he was raised by a single mother, he was an asshole because he went nuts in a war hospital and began blaming the Jews for Gemany's loss in WWI.

Where does this guy get all this useless and ovefiltered information, Fox News?

And how does this man expect to get laid with that attitude?

I'd expect nothing more than that from a guy named dick who has mustache like that.

To be honest, he's doing it for attention. Looks like he's got it.
Exactly, before I even watched the video, the image I got from that guys face just screams Misogynist/Camp 70s American Motorbike Cop.

Wow.
I freely admit that women are better than men.
At pretty much everything.

Nice glasses, though.

EDIT: I was looking at his website and now I want to shoot him.
In the face.

You know he's in the closet. Theres no other logical explanation. I mean, hes basically the real life version of Mr. Garrison from south park.

But on the subject, yes i do believe this falls under hate speech. But, we have freedom of speech and we cant take it away from some people (unfortunately) without taking it away from everyone. And i guess its a good thing to show us that there are people out there that still think this way, so that we dont get comfortable naive.

Unlike this guy, Clarkson has charisma. And I don't think he means it, which helps immensly.

I've seen this guy before. I didn't bother watching the videos because they make me angry. Very, very angry. If I get angry again once more this week I'll be banned from these here forums for saying something I'll probably not regret to someone that deserves it...

But yeah, this guy is one of many reasons why freedom of speech is overrated.

Seems to be more of a real life troll than actually serious. The whole thing kind of made me laugh, and I think that might have been what he was going for.

If his bank balance is higher than the number of people bitching about him on forums, he's onto a winner.

That guy's an IRL troll, definitely. He's having success with it too, judging from the video.

I bought his book about a year ago. I still regard it as one of the funniest things I've ever read.

Personally, I see it as satire. Whether or not he is joking, whether or not he wrote that book as satire or not, I take it is as satire regardless.

It's sexist, arrogant borderline-hate speech, but whether or not that was the intention, he actually points out a lot of flaws with men in his book, which, combined with the exaggeration of women's incompetence, leads me to take it as a satire. There is some truth in that book. It's just mostly covered by the offensive stuff.

He takes it to an extreme, but I'm glad that there is a counterpart to the feminists. That being said, if I could get rid of him and feminists at the same time I would. But as long as they are out there, I will applaud him.

HAHA, this guy is actually amusing in sorts, but I'm sure it's because I'm a sick bastard of an individual.

EDIT: Anyone think it was kind of funny when he insulted that girl, and she tried to play it off that she "couldn't hear him".

Between the book and the website, he's got to be raking in a moderately sized chunk of change, especially now that he's been on national television. He's got to be keeping it up for the money. Whether or not he actually believes what he says is another matter.
