What nice, well lit areas those are. Oh and simple skeleton enemies, I feel so comforted.

Mass Effect Husks are scarier than these things.
I can't blame you...i mean banshees...bitches be crazy.

Well, most of the enemies in those screenshots are the ones that result from living humans eating Necromorph flesh, usually out of desperation.
Where did you get that piece of info from?

Im actually curious.
It's from a Game Informer article from a couple months ago. According to the article, they're called Feeders, and they're described as "what happens when a human isn't actually infected by a Swarmer or by a Divider head, but by necessity ends up eating the flesh of a turned necro."

Essentially, these aren't really necromorphs, so to the people saying they don't look like a necromorph at all, bingo.

The article also says that you'll find out whether the colonists on the planet turned to eating necromorph flesh to delay starvation, or as part of a Unitologist "communion" ritual, so my desperation remark may end up being untrue.

It's like a gallery of mundane boredom encapsulated by video game screenshots.

Not a bad idea, but the design is still poor. They're too plain and to well lit. They just look more goofy than scary.

Given what weve seen of the Unitologists so far from the first 2 games, its highly probable that they have something to do with them. It wouldnt the first time theyve been creating Necromorphs to further thier cause either.

I can see your point, but I think that the "well lit" aspect is more for the screenshots' purpose than anything else. It's very possible that they specifically chose well lit shots to show what the enemy looks like as a whole, because a dark or blurry shot of a new enemy type doesn't demonstrate the design very well.

Also, if I remember correctly (very possible I'm missing some details), the Feeder's M.O. is sort of like a swarm-type enemy. I think I read that if they scream/shriek or whatever, hordes of other Feeders start popping out of vents, air-shafts and other monstery places.

These screen shots really change nothing. I have to wonder why they're even bothering to stick with our protagonist as this point. The last scene of Dead Space 2 after you defeated the boss was so disappointing and forced. Isaac is simply not needed, he's still just a really lucky (or unlucky) guy and him being in installments so far is just shoe horning him in. Not some natural progression of a over arching story that's linking these games together. I mean the galaxy is big place and these necro morphs are popping up every where so why not change protagonists to a more military dude (or lady if they felt brave in that particularly cowardly form of corperate bravery)if they're going make the game much more shootery.

These picutres are about as anonymous as pictures can get. It's MEN in METAL with GUNS indiscriminately SHOOTHING at EVIL MONSTERS FROM HELL. Riveting.

I'm very interested to see how this goes, if the game sells enough copies. What was it? Around 5 million? Yeah that seems to ring a bell, and if they succeed, how will this series evolve? Four player coop? Dead 4 Space. Gonna be epic.

The thing is, showing off the design hurts the fear factor. Even if they keep them in shadow in the game, I still know what they look like now. It's like seeing a picture of the Amnesia monster. Still think they could have done more with the creatures than generic brown skeleton. Splicer like mutations, or Cthulhu like, even a more zombie style look would be superior. This things have no personality. Even adding a few tattered reminisce of clothing would help.

Wouldn't surprise me. Again, they look a lot like toned down husks, which are swarm-type enemies. They look very frail which doesn't help the fear factor either. It's kind of the opposite of the uncanny valley. They aren't close enough to humans or different enough from humans to be creepy. For example, they'd more freaky if they still looked and kind of acted mostly human, except they had an insecticide spiky leg jutting out of an eye socket and a grotesque tumor on their stomach. Seeing a family of these mutated things, father, mother, daughter, son sitting normally at a dining room table eating what looks like a necromorph could be terrifying if set up right.

I dunno about you guys, but I found that last one hilarious.

"Eeek! Get out of my kitchen, you fiend!"

Okay it's funnier in my head.

Maybe they're not showing the scarier monsters so they don't spoil it? Let's hope so, anyway.

The monster designs look nowhere near as gooey and wonderfully gross as they did in the first two games. They're actually very bland - to me anyway.

Hopes... Fading... Ever faster...
The game was too scary, EA is doing us a favor. They're just so thoughtful.

I feel it's gonna be more along the lines of Lost Planet than any other big-scary-monsters-and-coop game, which is so far from the original Dead Space but y'know... too scary 'n stuff.

At the very least I'll enjoy saving your life.

Ninja'd! Dammit!

Although in my head it was more like: "Aargh! Isaac! I haven't finished the eggs yet!"
