Have you met a bunch of folk from The Escapist or the internet in general?
Had a big meet or just met up with one person from anywhere in the internet world?

Care to share you story? if you have a particular fond one or funny?

I've met a few people from online, mainly back in the MySpace day and I'm still very good friends with them to this day, some not as we formed a relationship which ended not so well. I've also met a few people of FaceBook, they were friends of freinds of friends, but I'd still never met them before and had spoken on FB for ages.

I've never met anyone from a forum, although I'm hoping to this year. All forums I'm a part of have big American meets, alas, I'm in the UK and we never have done any.
They seem really exciting!

I'll be meeting some people here at Escapism this summer, but until then I won't have met anyone from forums.

Heck yeah I did!
Escapism Toronto 2010 was a lightly attended, but still fun day of arcade games, batting cages, go-karts, and Boston Pizza! I'm hoping to organize another one this year. We had discussed doing it in the winter with skiing, but I like the summer. It's less...cold.

Good times, though!

Technically I met my girlfriend online, but its not quite the same - we went to the same college but met/talked on MSN for a few months before actually meeting face to face.

Other than that no, although largely because the opportunity has never come up. There's a guy I met on a forum about 5 years ago who I'm good friends with and is touring Europe, so I might rendezvous with him at some point.

I've only done it once, and that wasn't even on purpose. I was playing COD and met some people in a random game, they were pretty cool so I added them to friends, and after a week I realised we lived pretty close to each other, and we all went the same college. One of them turned out to be a prick that sells people out for "popular" mates, the other is alright and I still speak to him.

I'd like to meet some other people I know on the internet, like this girl I accidentally sent a friend request on Facebook, turns out she went to the same primary and lives like 5 minutes down the road from me, and she's pretty fucking funny too. The only thing stopping me is my ridiculous timetable at University.

No one from the Escapist yet, though we should organize a Texas meeting, would be great.

As for from the internet, I've gamed with the same group for going on 5 years now. I live next to DFW airport in Texas, so I get to meet alot of them as they come through on connecting flights.

Though, this summer, the UK members are flying to America, starting in Colorado and making a road trip out of America to see all of our US members whom regularly play (about 6 of us.)

Along the path of the roadtrip, several of us US members are going to hop in one of the vehicles and go see the rest of our members with the Brits. Should be good fun.

damn. I can't read the captcha

Nah, I haven't. Wouldn't be opposed to it, necessarily, except I don't know how many of us live in Upstate New York, and I hate travelling.

No, I've only been here for 2 days (3 counting today) and I live in Hawaii so it's highly unlikely. I haven't met anyone on the internet in real life ever either.

Woah! Chances of that happening seem nil. I would love to come across someone really local in a game of CoD, all I get are poeple who speak a different language lol

Yeah it is quite weird thinking about it. That's the only time its happened though and considering how much I played COD4, I'm not too surprised lol. I've met a few people on this forum too that happen to be from Manchester. It's strange because I don't realise that until after I've spoken to them, and I don't really speak to people all that frequently on here.

Yes, I've met a few people from my WoW guild a few years ago. It was a great meeting and a nice party and they were really cool people, just like they were online. Of course you can't get along with everyone but at least having a friendly conversation was no trouble.

So that was pretty great. After that, some of them started to blur the lines between online chat and actual conversation. Which was a little annoying when all I wanted was just to play the game with people I liked. I do not want to hear someone's lifestory on vent while trying to kill a boss. So the fallout was a little unfortunate. But by then most of the members were already fed up with the direction the game was taking (this was during the beginning of WotLK) and so it all fell apart in the end. I still speak occasionally to one person through msn, but she's gotten married and had a kid in the meantime so our conversation topics are dwindling fast.

Make sure to drop me a line when you're organizing that, eh? I'm not sure that I'll be in Toronto at the time, but if I am I will definitely attend.

I've met up with two people online who happened to be visiting my city. We just hung out for a bit and they went on their way. I've had several other meetings scheduled, but all have either fell through or postponed. However, I have a lot set up for this summer, so I'm anticipating it.
